Meet our February Pay-It-Forward recipients

Together, Visa and IFundWomen have been creating access to funding and education for women-owned small businesses around the world. This month, in honor of Black History Month, we partnered with Visa to bring funding to Black women entrepreneurs who are crowdfunding on the IFundWomen platform.

LaKecia Farmer

Parable is a family, queer, Black, and women-owned community space with a curated selection of plants, books, records, art, and events. Launching in 2020, in the midst of racial and health pandemics, the Parable team knew that opening a business seemed risky, but also imaginative timing. After opening their brick & mortar in Aug. 2021, they’re raising money to further secure their space.

Chisama Ku Penn

Custom Tradition is a fair trade non-profit organization that supports indigenous women artisans by promoting their handicrafts to a global market. The team currently works with a women-led collective of palm basket weavers from the indigenous Mixtec community of Oaxaca, Mexico. Chisama is raising money to expand. They have gorgeous hand woven napkins and bread baskets featured in their rewards, so definitely check those out and support this BWOB today!

Eva Woolridge

Eva has spearheaded a team of Black and Queer femmes on a journey to create a documentary and photo series to document the history and influence of Black birth workers across the U.S. Eva has a story to tell and is raising money to support the production of this project.

Kafi Dixon

The Cooperative’s mission is to provide safe space centering and holistic wellness as a resource to the women in the Boston community who are impacted by recent societal and environmental violence. Kafi is seeking funding to support the Cooperative’s organizational growth.
