My name is Keri Demers, and I have worked in the animal field for all of my life. I went to school for Animal Care, and immediately started working at my first animal hospital. I worked at that hospital for over 20 years, and enjoyed every bit of it. I had various jobs throughout my time there from front desk, to kennel technician, to kennel manager, to telephone operator. I left there after they had become corporate as I felt it did not have the “family” feeling anymore. Since then I have worked at a few other animal hospitals and have not found a facility that I loved as much as I did with my first job.
Because of this, I have decided to attempt to open my own dog day care and boarding facility. With my first job, I also managed an animal rescue group to help the animals that came into the hospital via animal control. I want to incorporate saving animals in my business plan for the day care and boarding facility, and also take it to even another level, by adding training, grooming and client education.
My business is still in the beginning stages, I have a facility, and am currently working with the town to get my approvals.
