Missy Lavender is a proud pelvic health champion who founded Women's Health Foundation to teach women and girls about the space below their belt. She is thrilled to be a co-creator and CEO of the Below Your Belt start-up. She founded WHF 13 years ago, and over these years she has helped create and direct four evidence-based women's pelvic wellness programs which run throughout the U.S. including the one for teens that informed this project. Missy is involved nationally as a speaker and patient advocate and is proud to be part of an NIH effort to create prevention strategies for bladder issues (PLUS Consortium). She has an MBA from the Kellogg School at Northwestern University and a BA in Speech Communication from Miami University (Ohio). The one thing she would tell every woman who has an interest in being leak-free through life is to stop hovering over the toilet while voiding. Just sit down all the way, relax, and enjoy it.
Elizabeth (Lise) Wood is a pelvic health devotee who joined Women's Health Foundation in 2013 to edit and publish the now 5-time awarded book, Below Your Belt: How to Be Queen of Your Pelvic Region. As a writer, editor, and former children's book publishing executive, she brings her skills and vision to direct the creative development of the Below Your Belt mobile app. Her pelvic wellness mission, other than to have it herself, is to stop people from changing the subject due to embarrassment over bladder and bowel health; and, to help girls tap into the core that can help them crush it in sports. She attended University of Washington and has a BA in English from Pepperdine University.
