At the age of 56, I’m thankful to say that I live a healthy and productive life that is full of joy and peace. I have used a few simple, holistic practices to care for every aspect of my being. I’ve come to know personally that our overall well-being depends on how we care for our body, soul, and spirit, which is the inspiration for this venture.
At the end of the day, we all need guidance, resources, and support to live our best lives. I have always enjoyed the times I could afford spa treatments as they have both mental and physical benefits, but most spas are not budget friendly. A few years back, my doctor warned me that would need medication to reduce cholesterol numbers that at that point were out of control. I immediately joined the gym and Weight Watchers, which taught me balance and portion sizes for all the food groups and types. I lost fifteen pounds in three months and I am proud to say that I have been able to avoid cholesterol and other medications in the last 10 years by focusing on natural approaches to good health. I have prioritized time spent with nutritionists and firmly believe in finding the time to plan and prepare to eat healthy meals with our busy lives.
There are so many other factors that impact our stress levels and outlook on life, which affect our physical and mental health. What we think and feel, how we deal with people in our relationships and space, how we face challenges and obstacles — all contribute to our health and well-being.
I am a very giving person in so many facets of my life but I had to learn first and foremost to love and care for myself so that I could be my best for others. As a busy single working mother of three who also served my community, I learned that it was not selfish to put myself first. Now I want to help others do the same.
