Affiong is the Founder of The Ekaterra Company, LLC, a direct-from-source wild harvested indigenous West African spice company based out of Houston TX. Ekaterra’s mission is to make the ancestral spices from West Africa more accessible to cooks and chefs everywhere who are seeking to explore new flavors beyond just heat.
Prior to launching Ekaterra, Affiong founded Oh So Nutrition, a healthy food & beverage ecommerce company servicing Lagos, Nigeria - one of the first such businesses in the country. Beyond entrepreneurship she has spent over 20 years of her career in North America, Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa as a successful B2C and B2B brand, product and device marketing, strategy and tech expert. Some of her more notable positions include Chief Marketing Officer at Google in Nigeria, Regional Head of Google Apps marketing and Regional Head of YouTube marketing for Sub-Saharan Africa. In these roles she oversaw multi-million dollar budgets and led diverse multi-regional teams in successfully implementing strategies that directly contributed to bottom-line growth. She has also had a long career as a senior strategy management consultant at Deloitte in the US leading engagements for Fortune 50 clients in North America and Europe. She is also a creator who is an advocate for adopting plant-based eating and lends her voice on the topic through her blog - plantfoodfederation.com.
Affiong holds an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, BS in Mathematics from Clark Atlanta University USA and holds a certificate in Raw & Plant Based Food from Matthew Kenney & Plant Lab Culinary.
