​​Aloha! Zero Waste Hale is asking for YOUR help with our rebrand and expansion for our newly established zero waste store in Haiku, Maui. 

Our Mission:
Zero Waste Hale's goal is to GREATLY reduce Maui’s consumption of single-use plastics that ultimately end up in our oceans, poisoning our wildlife and us as a community.  

Here’s what we’re doing:

• Offering a wide-array of plastic free and sustainably packaged products.
• Providing a refill station that offers household cleaners, laundry, and personal care products. The community is encouraged to bring their own reusable container(s) and fill by the ounce. 
• Getting involved with the local community by hosting informative events, workshops, and beach cleanups. 
• Supporting grassroots organizations that are dedicated to stopping single-use plastics at the state government level.

The Ask:

We are raising $30,000 to expand our operations to include:  

• COMPLETE rebrand; name, logo, trademarking, website, marketing materials, etc.
• Improvements needed for the storefront including but not limited to; shelving, storage, retail counter, baseboards.   
• Inventory growth of earth-conscious, plastic-free and sustainably packaged products for your home and body.
• Starting a subscription-based, island-wide delivery service to further reduce carbon emissions. For that we will need a vehicle that is either a hybrid or fully electric.
• And! A NEW exciting program to be announced at a later date.

Why are we doing this?
The answer is simple, plastic is KILLING our planet! It has rapidly gone from being a nuisance to becoming a full blown world crisis. Did you know that EVERY piece of plastic ever made still exists? Let that sink in. We can get into the statistics and the doom & gloom but we’re sure that you’ve seen the documentaries yourself or you wouldn’t be on this page right now. 

About Me:
Ashley Bowman: Owner & Operator.
Sustainable living has always been a passion of mine. Since moving to Maui in 2015 the importance of saving our oceans became even more apparent, as I could literally see the beaches and ocean permeated with plastics. I decided to #bethechange and established Zero Waste Hale in February of 2020. As the world shut down, I took that time as an opportunity to pivot and create this essential business for Maui. With the help of a small loan from a dear friend, came Zero Waste Hale’s humble beginnings at the local Farmer’s Markets in December 2020. In July of 2021, I came upon the perfect space for my storefront and decided to GO for it! Since then I have been developing the storefront organically with all profits going back into the business as well as personal contributions. Currently I have the shop open 3 days a week and participate in one farmer’s market a week. This funding would allow me to expand my hours to six days a week providing my business the time and energy it needs for continued growth.

Now that I have the ball rolling, I am asking for YOUR assistance to further help my vision and dream come true. Help me, help YOU, help our Mother Earth!
