Project Description

Women for Education is a nonprofit organization that provides student loans, mentorships, skills training and professional networks for female university students in economically developing countries. Today, our focus is supporting the next generation of leaders in Kenya.

Women for Education is dedicated to creating a more equal world, one that empowers women to shape their lives and communities. That is why we are committed to helping women in Kenya finance advanced degree programs. By covering tuition fees and living costs, Women for Education helps participating students contribute to the sustainable economic growth of their country.

Women for Education uses donations to finance full four-year degree programs for participating students at Kenyan universities. In addition to tuition fees, donations are used to cover living costs, which allows students to confidently focus on their studies.

Women for Education also matches students and graduates with local mentors, each an accomplished professional with valuable insights and networks of their own.

Students also take part in skills development workshops that facilitate their success in the job market, including interview preparation, resume writing and seminars on English-language in the workplace.

Finally, Women for Education plugs participating students into a global network of professionals committed to promoting women in leadership.

In six years, Women for Education has supported 11 students. We look forward to welcoming even more women into our community in 2021.

Like students around the world, COVID-19 has introduced new complexities to the student experience. This is especially true in Kenya, where students do not have access to the standard of technological infrastructure required for online learning. This has changed the level of need for each student, requiring an injection of funding in the short-term and new considerations when financing future students.

Women for Education invites you to help the next intake of Kenyan scholars and enrolled students to overcome the many challenges they face during the pandemic.

Together, we can provide the means necessary to complete a university education despite the COVID-19 crisis. By helping these women obtain an advanced degree and training to kickstart their professional careers, you will change their lives and their communities. Let's get started!

ABOUT US

Women for Education was founded in 2014 to fund advanced degree courses for women in economically developing countries.

Run by an international team of volunteers, Women for Education is a lean non-profit. This means donations are funnelled directly to participating students as tuition fees and living expenses throughout their studies.
