Our Mission:
Translators of the Earth’s mission is to empower women to connect to their cyclical natures and take power back over their bodies by creating a Womb Wisdom Workbook. The Womb Wisdom Workbook is a digital and interactive art therapy workbook that interweaves science and spirituality and provides tools and practices that help women to connect to their cyclical natures and their biology. It empowers women to go on a personal journey of healing and self discovery in order to harness their own inner wisdom and deep creative potential and reclaim their personal power.
Here is the Problem:
We currently live in a time where many women don't feel aligned with the natural cycles and rhythms of their bodies and feel disconnected from their emotions, intuition and creative potential. Unlike men’s bodies, women’s bodies are cyclical and their energy levels, brain chemistry and hormones change dramatically depending on where they are at in their menstrual cycles. Many women have not been taught about their true cyclical nature and as a result are not harnessing their own inner wisdom, deep creative potential and personal power.
Studies have shown that 90% of women of reproductive age experience several premenstrual symptoms varying from mild to severe with up to 40% experiencing severe symptoms. Depression rates in menopausal women are double those of men in the same age demographic. These numbers show that a great portion of women in their reproductive and non-reproductive years are struggling physically and emotionally. This data suggests that because of a person’s biology, they are more prone to suffer. However, here at Translators of the Earth, we believe the problem isn’t our biology, but a lack of connection to the cyclical nature of our own bodies.
Furthermore, women are often encouraged to look outside of themselves for answers from “experts” and spend large sums of money and time on health and wellness in order to “fix themselves” and feel better.

Here at Translators of the Earth we know that each woman’s body is unique and she is the person that knows her body best. We are empowering women to take power back over their bodies and health by providing an economically accessible digital, interactive art-therapy workbook.The workbook will help a woman reconnect to her truest nature, whether menstruating or menopausal, and find a balance within herself by providing tools and practices to reconnect her to her own unique biological, cyclical and creative nature.
The Womb Wisdom Workbook offers a unique fusion of science, spirituality and art therapy practices to help a woman understand her true nature and emotions and harness her deepest creative potential. We’re including art therapy practices, rituals, rites of passage ceremonies, guided active visualization journeys and prompted journaling exercises - all tools to bypass the thinking mind and connect to one's intuition and inner wisdom.
The workbook will be divided into 13 chapters, guiding a woman on a journey throughout the different phases and stages of her life. She will have the opportunity to observe, recognize and unlock memories and blockages from different times in her life. As she progresses through the workbook, the writings and proposed exercises will help her move stuck energy, heal unprocessed memories, integrate abandoned aspects of herself and change old narratives and stories.
By exploring herself in this new way, she will have the opportunity to generate a positive change of perspective and discover aspects of herself that had previously remained unexplored. Each woman will begin to glimpse her own transformative force and discover that, with the right tools and practices, she has the power to be her own greatest teacher and healer.
Why include Ceremonies and Rituals?
In each woman’s life, she passes through significant passages such as her birth and her first menstruation (Menarche). However, in modern cultures, these rites of passage and ceremonies are rarely marked in any significant or meaningful way. Historically, in cultures all over the world, rites of passage were honoured and celebrated through ritual and ceremony, giving meaning to the different phases of development and personal growth. In each chapter, we are including ceremonies and rituals to allow a woman to go back in time to give new significance to these momentous occasions in her life. These practices will give her the opportunity to honour herself in a new way and reclaim her rightful essence.
Why Art Therapy?
Art has the capacity to heal the human spirit. It has the ability to materialize the invisible world of our thoughts, emotions and dreams, making the intangible, tangible. It has the power to bypass the thinking mind and access our subconscious, our inner knowing. Given its profound nature, we use it as a tool throughout the workbook to help women access the messages hidden in their subconscious, unlocking the deepest parts of their beings.
Art therapy has been proven to be deeply beneficial at improving one’s well-being and self-esteem and to heal emotional wounds and traumas. A study published in The Arts in Psychotherapy revealed that 81% of participants reported improvement in their overall psychological health and 79% of participants experienced an increase in self-esteem after participating in art therapy sessions. Another study published in Art Therapy: Journal of the American Art Therapy Association found that 76% of participants reported significant improvements in post-traumatic growth after participating in art therapy. These numbers illustrate the potential of art therapy in the process of emotional healing and personal development.
So What is the market opportunity?
The global health and wellness industry is valued at 5.2 billion dollars and is expected to grow annually at a rate of 5.5% reaching an estimated 8.9 billion dollars by 2032. Women spend on average three times more than men annually on health and wellness. However, the industry tends to be more focused on profit than wellness. The goal of our workbook is to provide women with an economically accessible resource to take control over their own health and wellness. The workbook will give women the tools and resources they need to cultivate trust in their own inner knowing and wisdom. This will provide them with autonomy over their health and wellness, giving them true confidence in themselves.
Meet our Team!
Translators of the Earth is a bilingual (English and Spanish) art collective that was formed by artist and business owner Laurel Birk and medical doctor and artist Mercedes Maiz. Collectively, we hold the vision that women across cultures and socio-economic backgrounds should have access to the tools and resources they need to heal and live fully embodied lives. We are two women passionate about service, constantly generating spaces for personal transformation and connection.
Why trust in us to create this workbook?
Mercedes is a medical doctor, a researcher in the field of human and somatic biology and an artist. She is also a certified natural gynaecologist, menstrual cycle facilitator and somatic therapist. Her current practice focuses on the relationship of the body and its nature as a channel of connection, transformation, movement and regeneration.
Laurel Birk is an artist and founder of Conversations with Forest, a soul-centred social enterprise providing women with tools and resources to connect to their bodies and the Earth. She is an international exhibiting artist and her art practice focuses on the connection between women, their wombs, and the Earth. She uses art as a portal for personal and collective healing and discovery.
We have come together as an artist collective to interweave our knowledge, experience and love for art as a tool for healing in order to help more women reconnect to their truest essence. A fundamental part of our team is our community and all the women who have crossed our paths over time. We would love for you to be part of our project in any way you feel like sharing, supporting, contributing or collaborating.
How Your Funding Helps:
Your funding allows us to research and create The Womb Wisdom Workbook and pay for an editor and graphic designer to finish the compilation of the workbook. Your funding will help us reach our goal to help as many women as possible personally discover and heal the relationship with their own bodies and cycles.
The workbook will be developed in three stages:
a) the research phase, b) the content creation phase and c) the workbook compilation phase. We are seeking funding for all three phases.
a) For the research phase, we will review relevant literature, both scientific and spiritual, develop an index, solidify chapter and subchapter themes and conduct relevant interviews.
b) For the content creation phase we will develop art therapy and sensory practices, produce rituals and ceremonies, create illustrations, develop and record active visualization journeys and write related content. We will run a series of pilot workshops to receive participant feedback on the exercises and ceremonies. We will then review and edit all content.
c) Finally, for the workbook compilation phase we will work with a graphic designer to compile all materials, develop the design of the workbook, select text styles, hierarchy, layout and grid format and edit images. We will have an editor do final revisions and then send the digital workbook to IFUND Women supporters. We will then make the workbook available for purchase.
This project has an expected completion and release date of September 2024.

An Akashic Records reading consists of access to the information stored in our soul, the information contained in the Akasha (book of life). Our Akashic Records are the sacred guide to our experiences as incarnated souls; they contain our experiences, obstacles, learning, lineage history, relationships, patterns and discoveries of lifetime after lifetime.

The Womb Detox Cycle is a 50-day cleanse where you will undergo detoxification and cleansing of your organs for harmonization and balance of your body. You will do this process through the ingestion of herbs, taken as a daily infusion, and accompanied by guided emotional work. You will take a plant infusion of a particular plant for 10 days at a time, with a total of 5 different plants. If you have any allergies or sensitivities, a plant substitute will be provided.
The detox starts with a process of internal and external deworming, then cleaning the mucus from the lungs and intestine, continuing with the liver, spleen, pancreas and stomach, then the kidneys and finishing with the uterus and blood.
The Womb Detox Cycle helps with menstrual symptoms and/or ailments and detoxifies the body, mainly the organs associated with the uterus and menstrual cycle. This is a deeply powerful physical and spiritual cleanse, where you will notice significant changes in your internal and external environments.
By enrolling in this detox you will be given access to a WhatsApp group where we will share the materials of each class accompanied by the necessary tools and support. The WhatsApp group provides a container to share and listen, creating a space of sisterhood and support. You will also have access to private consultations if necessary or in case you want to deepen a personal process once the cleaning is completed.
As this is a group-supported detox, registration will close on January 6, 2024, with the cleanse starting on January 13, 2024. The process will begin with an intake form, assessing your specific needs and overall health goals. You will then be provided with the plant list and an electronic moon journal to track your own process. Mercedes will accompany you on this journey and guide you through the plant connections.

The family tree represents the lineage, the ancestral bridge that was intertwined to give you life. Entering your family tree also known as the family system, allows you to observe learned and sustained behaviours, loyalties, roles, unconscious coping mechanisms, repetitive patterns, gifts, and virtues, among other wisdom.
With this course, you will be given the opportunity to find healing around an aspect of your life. At the beginning of the course, you will set an intention of what you would like to work through within your own family system. You can set the intention to work through an unconscious behaviour or pattern that is no longer serving you or to receive clarification around your unique gifts. If you don’t have an intention at the time of registration, don't worry, a guided meditation will be provided at the beginning of the course, helping you to receive clarity about your intention. In this Blank Canvas Workshop, you will learn how to create your very own piece of artwork that will act as your anchor connection portal. You will be able to use this artwork to connect more deeply to your essence and purpose. This workshop includes 5 pre-recorded classes given by Mercedes, where she will share the tools for you to create a work of art from the earth-sky connection channel that you are. The detox starts with a process of internal and external deworming, then cleaning the mucus from the lungs and intestine, continuing with the liver, spleen, pancreas and stomach, then the kidneys and finishing with the uterus and blood.
The Womb Detox Cycle helps with menstrual symptoms and/or ailments and detoxifies the body, mainly the organs associated with the uterus and menstrual cycle. This is a deeply powerful physical and spiritual cleanse, where you will notice significant changes in your internal and external environments.
By enrolling in this detox you will be given access to a WhatsApp group where we will share the materials of each class accompanied by the necessary tools and support. The WhatsApp group provides a container to share and listen, creating a space of sisterhood and support. You will also have access to private consultations if necessary or in case you want to deepen a personal process once the cleaning is completed.
As this is a group-supported detox, registration will close on January 6, 2024, with the cleanse starting on January 13, 2024. The process will begin with an intake form, assessing your specific needs and overall health goals. You will then be provided with the plant list and an electronic moon journal to track your own process. Mercedes will accompany you on this journey and guide you through the plant connections.

Entering your family tree also known as the family system, allows you to observe learned and sustained behaviours, loyalties, roles, unconscious coping mechanisms, repetitive patterns, gifts, and virtues, among other wisdom.
With this course, you will be given the opportunity to find healing around an aspect of your life. At the beginning of the course, you will set an intention of what you would like to work through within your own family system. You can set the intention to work through an unconscious behaviour or pattern that is no longer serving you or to receive clarification around your unique gifts. If you don’t have an intention at the time of registration, don't worry, a guided meditation will be provided at the beginning of the course, helping you to receive clarity about your intention. In this Blank Canvas Workshop, you will learn how to create your very own piece of artwork that will act as your anchor connection portal. You will be able to use this artwork to connect more deeply to your essence and purpose.
