Our Story

In October of 2019, just a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic, The Vegan Cosmetics Store opened its doors to the public with a mission to promote healthy lifestyles and environmental sustainability. We were excited to share our passion for vegan cosmetics and skincare with our community, but as you can imagine, the pandemic brought unprecedented challenges to our business.

During these difficult times, healthcare workers were stretched beyond their limits, working tirelessly to care for those affected by the virus. As a new business, we didn't have many resources, but we knew we had to do something to help.

That's when we decided to take action and provide Soothing Lavender Self-Care Packages to healthcare workers throughout Florida and New York. We wanted to show our gratitude for their tireless efforts and give them a moment of peace and relaxation amid the chaos. That’s when we decided to roll up our sleeves and go to work.

Over time, these lavender self-care gift sets became our best-seller, and we knew we had to do more. We decided to create more products with lavender, as the plant is believed to help promote calmness and wellness.

Our soothing lavender facial cleanser became the cornerstone for a three-step daily skincare routine that healthcare workers and others could use to care for their skin and find a moment of peace in their busy lives. We're proud to have made a positive impact on the lives of these incredible individuals and will continue to seek out ways to make a difference in our community.

Our Founder and CEO, Karlene Facey, has a deep personal connection to the power of healthy eating and a plant-based lifestyle. Her father was diagnosed with multiple forms of cancer, including colon and liver cancer, and was given a grim prognosis.

But he defied the odds by changing his diet and adopting a holistic approach to his health. At the age of 80, he decided to forgo chemotherapy and radiation, and instead embraced a plant-based diet that helped him to recover from his illness.

Today, at the age of 95, Karlene's father continues to thrive, thanks in part to the power of a healthy lifestyle. His journey inspired Karlene to create The Vegan Cosmetics Store, a brand that's focused on promoting natural, plant-based products that nourish the skin and promote overall health and wellness.

Our products have been selling with about a 95% repeat purchase rate, but the cost is prohibitive as a subscription program in the current packaging. However, funding will allow us to scale the products and create a simple 3-step skincare routine to have them readily available in a smaller, more convenient and affordable packing. This is TSA compliant and will be easy for travel. We want more people to be able to afford these wonderful skincare products.
