: Supporting Nonprofit Alternatives

Ozarks Wellness is a nonprofit organization built by two nurses who endeavor to cultivate healthier communities by empowering individuals through affordable wellness services.

We all know that healthcare is expensive, including scientifically-proven modalities that are offered at wellness clinics. By offering such services on a sliding scale, Ozarks Wellness endeavors to help people afford to live a better quality of life.

Clients of Ozarks Wellness are those who actively seek ways to optimize their health. Our clients want to live their lives feeling their best. We’ve set up our nonprofit to serve communities in Missouri and any state that borders Missouri.

Our first clinic is now open, offering both pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy and IV infusion therapy. We plan to add hyperbaric oxygen therapy this summer. 

• Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy is another modality that has a wealth of studies backing its effectiveness. PEMF can improve circulation and sleep, reduce inflammation and pain, accelerate healing, improve one’s mental state, and so much more. PEMF works by either sitting in a chair or laying on a table that has a PEMF pad. This pad is wired to create an electromagnetic field that utilizes a healing frequency that is able to reach the body to the cellular level.

• IV Infusion therapy allows the body to receive nutrients directly into the bloodstream, alleviating nutritional deficiencies. There are many health conditions that benefit from IV infusions. While there are many doctors who pooh-pooh the idea that IV infusions are effective, this nurse has personally benefited from these therapies to the point that they feel as if they have been given a second chance at life. It is this sense of health and vitality that drives the passion for others to have the same life-changing health benefits that empower them to feel their best.

• Hyperbaric treatments consist of pure oxygen being pumped into a pressurized chamber with the client inside of the chamber. The combination of pressure and oxygen forces the oxygen deep into the cells, promoting energy and healing.  Hyperbaric oxygen treatments have been around for decades and has a wealth of scientific testing that proves the effectiveness of this treatment for such things as wound healing, blocking infections, eradicating free radicals, reduces inflammation, reduces anxiety and stress, and so much more.

We will offer our services to clients who can afford our services, as well as those who have limited financial resources. We feel that not giving such lifechanging therapies to people because of financial limitations ultimately affects the community as a whole since people are not living their lives to the fullest.

We have been seeking funding through family and investors. To date, we have had one family member give us enough funds to purchase some equipment and supplies (see video). Once our governmental paperwork is approved, we will be able to apply for grants to help fund our clinic. In the meantime, we are relying on the support of others to get the clinic running and offering services.

Ozarks Wellness consists of two nurses, Ashley and Laura. Between the two of them, they have 24 years of nursing experience. 

Ashley is a registered nurse who has worked in both the hospital setting (NICU and oncology) and in a clinic offering functional medicine treatments. It was quickly apparent to Ashley that the cost of functional medicine treatments limited who could benefit from them, although the treatments were proven beneficial. Ashley could see the difference these treatments made in her client’s lives and knew this was something she wanted to offer to those who could not afford such services.

Laura is a registered nurse who decided to go to nursing school after watching the painful deal of her father. Working in the hospital setting (Med/Surg and stepdown), Laura understood that the hospital’s treatment plan was not proactive and knew that to make a real difference, she needed to reach people before they had no choice but to go to the hospital.

Laura has owned three successful businesses, the third being still in business after ten years. Armed with this kind of experience, Laura asked Ashley to join forces so that Ozarks Wellness could serve the local community. 

To date, Ozarks Wellness has purchased a contract with Hydreight Technologies Inc., giving them access to a doctor for standing orders, a pharmacy to purchase supplies and pharmaceuticals, and a means to provide IV infusions. Ozarks Wellness has also made arrangements for the future purchase of a hyperbaric chamber and has made a down payment on the PULSE PEMF system.

Ozarks Wellness has started to offer both IV and PEMF therapies, but much more is needed to make this nonprofit viable. The need for funds to complete the purchase of equipment, marketing materials, and supplies is great.

Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. We have a vision to grow our little nonprofit into something much bigger so that we can serve many more people in many more communities. We truly care about people and want them to live their life to the fullest.
