My name is Raquel and I am the owner of Primrose Floral Design Inc. I moved from suburban Ohio to NYC to pursue my passion for art and design, and eventually attended and graduated the Flower School of NY. I opened my small business shortly thereafter in an area of Brooklyn that lacked many nearby floral shops. I can truly say in the short period we have been open (over two years), that we are filling a niche in this community that absolutely adores flowers.

As a business owner, I only employ trained floral designers and invest in the highest quality floral product, and it really shows in our designs. Our customers really love us and subscribe to our flowers on a weekly basis, and we've been featured in many local magazines for our work. Not only do we make the classical floral arrangements that everyone knows and loves, but we are constantly innovating our design concepts to keep up with the latest floral trends to create the most exquisite, unique designs including large floral displays for events and businesses (ie, NY Fashion Week). Just this week an out-of-state customer paid us to UPS overnight her flowers- and this is not a rare incident for us. We truly put love and care into every product we make, and add the extra Primrose touch using our unique floral care stationary and sustainable kraft-paper signature wrapping.

As a small business owner, I have many ideas for growth and innovation, and am very dedicated to my employees fulfillment and growth in my business, so it truly pains me that my business is struggling to stay afloat. The struggles of maintaining shop have been consistent throughout the onset of COVID-19, but it has only worsened significantly over the last six months due to multiple factors, not limited to rising costs of importing/buying wholesale product (not only flowers, but vases and other necessary stock items that have become very difficult to come by due to global shipping and production issues), lack of increasing product sales- especially over the summer (customer base is truly experiencing hardships of impacts of COVID now), etc.

Despite all these losses, I am trying everything I can to stay open because this business is my love, my passion and the livelihood of my amazing designers. We are still pushing through despite losses at the hopes of getting through this difficult time, we are still delivering all over the city and we are still investing in the best and freshest quality flowers to keep true to our Primrose promise.
