Project Description

The Pegasus Foundation

  • Our mission is to provide affordable housing for single parent homes and veterans.
  • The problem we are looking to solve is affordable housing for single parents and veterans where the housing market has outpriced their level of income.
  • In the state of Texas there are certain industries (healthcare, education, tourism/hospitality) where the job needs by 2030 will outpace affordable available housing for workers in those industries.
  • Over the past 15 years rents and home prices in Texas has risen faster than incomes. There is a significant loss in affordable entry-level home ownership. An increasing proportion of households are being priced out of the housing market. By 2030 the average worker will not be able to afford the home prices even if there are 1.5 earners per household. The current housing market does not accommodate the workforce needs through 2030.  Our product will serve the housing market for those priced out of home ownership. We will provide affordable housing for households earning 75,000 per year or less. By way of building homes, we will also provide career relevant skill building for the 1,338,594 construction jobs currently in demand in Texas.
  • We are seeking funding for supplies to build our first prototype tiny home, which we plan to then donate to a single parent or veteran.
  • Cheryl Short, Kelly Schuck, Tasha Short.

The Campaign FAQs

  1. What type of population are we helping?

-Single parent homes and Veterans in Texas.

       2. What makes us innovative?

          - We combine our efforts to expose and advance youth to career connected learning in construction trades while also building an affordable home product which would otherwise outprice homeowners out of the market. By utilizing the high school apprentice program, we can employ high school students under the supervision of our general contractors thus containing labor cost and overhead making the homes uniquely affordable.

       3. Why should I fund you?

         - We are offering an innovative approach to home ownership for families that otherwise would not have these opportunities.

       4. How does the reward work?

        - Every $100 dollar donation will receive one raffle ticket for a tiny home. Every 30-day period (last day of the month) we will be sending out the tickets from the previous month. Once the goal is reached the raffle will be closed.

       5. How can I learn more?

       - Contact us 7 days a week via email at [email protected]
