Directly support students 2021 summer remote learning with Lift Off's Online Cultural Dance Program
Project Description
In the wake of Covid-19 there are many families who do not have access or the means to pay for safe and engaging summer activities. LIFT OFF would like to change this reality, by offering our Online Summer Dance Program in support. This summer we have set a goal to sponsor at least 20 families, but we need your help to do so! Your donations make it possible for us to provide each family with:
-8 full weeks of immersive online dance programming: A hybrid of on-demand workshops (play, pause, rewind) and livestream classes, #dancechallenges, and DIY dance prop tutorials
-Course work on mindfulness and social skills coaching by 4 different instructors
-Special dance workouts perfect for the whole family (kids and adults)
-DIY dance prop materials: African head wrap/ lapa, hand & ankle bells, 2 traditional Chinese Fans
-And an end of program digital recital and keepsake
A word from our CEO:
I creating Lift Off Special Programming, Inc. in order to engage young people in movement-based programs that center cultural styles of dance. Through transformative movement, participants gain enhanced self-awareness, empathy, and come to feel more at home in their own bodies. We focus on moving through life with purpose and intention to directly improve mental, physical, and emotional health.
As an arts educator, I strongly believe in the arts as a catalyst for social change. Enriching, virtual, artistic workshops should be accessible to all children. This is why a product of Lift Off's mission is to create access through sponsorship. Our ability to offer these services to 20 families directly relies upon your financial donations. Funds are used towards:
- rental spaces to film content
- salaries for our 4 instructors
- equipment for filming
- salaries for our videographer and editor
- streaming platforms for on-demand and livestream workshops
- dance prop materials
This 8-week summer program is the spring board for an annual remote learning program, fully funded through sponsorship. With your support we can bring this vision to fruition!

- Who are the dancers/ how are they chosen?
- Through partnership with organizations BOOM! Health and Ed Navigator, Lift off will provide programming to families who don't have access to or the means to pay for covid- safe and engaging summer activities
- What do the dancers receive?

- How long is the program?
- 8 weeks: The program is fully virtual and can be accessed from anywhere at any time. On-demand classes allow members to learn choreography at their own pace. Our livestream workshops allow members to connect and dance with each other.
- What specifically will the donated funds be spent on?
- Your donation will be put towards the following program expenses: Rental space to film content, instructor salaries, videographer and editor salaries, filming equipment, streaming platforms for on-demand and livestream workshops (vimeo and zoom), and DIY dance prop materials.
- What is social emotional wellness coaching?
- Lift Off engages in movement-based programs that center cultural styles of dance. Through transformative movement, participants gain enhanced self-awareness, empathy, and come to feel more at home in their own bodies. We focus on moving through life with purpose and intention to directly improve mental, physical, and emotional health.
