Women are underrepresented in every area of the music industry, So Am I-Worthy, Inc is a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization that highlights and uplifts female Christian & Black Indigenous Women of Color Singer-Songwriters. We advance their music careers by offering paid music gig opportunities, mentorship & guidance towards artist development through coaching, educational workshops, events, and grants for further music creation.

Our Mission✨
So Am I-Worthy Inc’s mission is to inspire, empower and provide more music opportunities for women singer-songwriters, especially women from all minority groups. We are not just about the music but about purpose, about changing norms and doing it confidently.

Our programs are tailored to alleviate the stressors (financial hardship, lack of community, lack of resources, low self-esteem & low confidence) women face in the music industry. We include, not exclude. We pride ourselves on collaboration, teamwork, diligence as well as mental and physical wellness.

We instill confidence, power, hope and resilience in women in music of racial/ethnic backgrounds so that they understand the phrase "So Am I-Worthy" and in turn can convey to other women "So Are You-Worthy". When we as a people know who we are we can then empower others to live up to their full potential. Our organization helps women in music of racial/ethnic backgrounds feel proud of who they are and not ashamed to sing praises to God in the music industry. They also don't have to feel ashamed about being modest or a "clean artist". Artist development still exists and we provide women in music the chance to live up to their potential and showcase it.

We also believe that with God all things are possible; our organization pulls its strength from His power and His core values. Every decision is based on social impact. We are creating new paths and building diversity, equity and inclusion in the music industry.

The Problem
Christian women of color singer-songwriters, need more stages to showcase their work.

📌 According to USC’s Annenberg Inclusion Initiative in the last nine years, across 2012 to 2020 women comprised 21.6% of all artists, 12.6% of all songwriters, and 2.6% of all producers.
📌 “Women producers — and particularly women of color — are virtually erased from the music industry,” Stacy L Smith said. “Harnessing the opportunity to showcase women’s talent and their creative contributions is essential if the record business wants to reach equality.”

About the Founder
Valencia Neptune is a social entrepreneur, singer-songwriter, wife and friend. With over 15 years in the music industry, experiencing the financial struggle, as well as seeing the inequality and micro aggressions firsthand she is ready and passionate to see this mission and cause through.
