Queer Community & Events in ONE Place with Beavr

Hi, my name is Violet, and I am a Queer events producer in Brooklyn, New York, and I am here to share more with you about the mission and vision for the app that I am trying to create.

One of the main events that I host is for a Queer Speed Dating event. I used to host events through an organization that centralized Sex positivity in general, and I found that there was a lack of awareness of Queer spaces and Queer focused events. Especially events that center on women and lesbian-identifying folks.

I am also a big traveler, and as a single Queer woman, whenever I'd travel to a new city, I'd google “lesbian parties, lesbian bars” I'd put ads out on my Instagram about someone taking me to the cool lesbian spots in the place where I was at.

Through my experience as an event producer, and as a Queer person living in the US, I realized two things: 1. I wanted more Queer community, and 2. I wanted a single place to find and save the Queer events and places. A big inspiration for this idea is the Lesbian Bar Project, which went around the country in 2020 with a mission to save the lesbian bars in the U.S., since then, so many bars have been able to stay alive and grow, and new ones have been popping up. 

Nearly 8% of women and non-binary people in The US identify as bisexual or lesbian, that's almost 15 million people! And if they are anything like me, they are probably asking themselves similar questions. 

“Where do I find Queer events?” 

"Where are all the lesbians?"

“Where do I find Queer community?” 

"Where do I find people like me?"

Right now, my team is just me! I have experience in hosting events, marketing, social media, and content creation, but in order to do this, I am going to need to build a badass team of humans to build, design, and engineer Beaver, and also to make it nationally known and available.
