Project Description
My company, Joy Faith Wellness, is dedicated to teaching people self-love through a mix of creativity, spirituality, and embodiment. I am uniquely trained to provide this needed integration. I am a yoga teacher, interfaith minister, reiki healer, mental health counselor, alcohol and drug counselor, and dance movement psychotherapist. I am also in a PhD program to study how embodiment, creativity, and spirituality might be essential and instinctual to human beings for wellness.
My mission is to teach people self-love so they have the tools they need to be present with themselves rather than run away using drugs, TV, violence or anything else. When people trust their inner world with compassion, they can live a life of thriving. When they use a mind, body, and spirit approach, they liberate their whole self.
The fields of mental health and wellness are both missing integration. The mental health field tends to ignore the whole person, focusing too much on cognitive awareness only. Meanwhile, the wellness field can often ignore clinical wisdom, focusing too much on alternative techniques. In the meantime, people are suffering with suicidality, depression, anxiety, and addiction. I love to bring an integrated approach to solve this human suffering.
The market size opportunity is potentially large as many individuals struggle with mental health. I desire to offer individual and group services in-person and online, as well as publications and recordings for purchase. As I expand my company, I would like to hire employees to provide accupuncture, psychotherapy, yoga, hypnosis, and other integrated healing modalities as I build a wellness center. Self-love can typically be built with a good foundation in six-months to one year.
I am the only professional in my business. I have spent on credit for business startup costs including fees for legal, accounting, Zoom, Quickbooks, Wix, Square, insurance, and business advising. I am seeking funding to move to the next level of my business without using credit, with a vision of moving into a rented space, improving advertising, and investing in technology to film and distribute products including videos and audio in yoga, meditation, and dance.
