P-MEP

We provide a platform for the everyday person to be introduced and exposed to precision medicine. Therefore this project is titled Precision Medicine for the Everyday Person or P-MEP, respectively. Our organization focuses on Nutrition Education and Health literacy while utilizing cloud-based EHR systems to transmit real-time data between basic health screenings and the patients' medical records. Our onsite health screening events collect basic information on interested public members and coach them on discussing their numbers with their primary medical care team. Specifically, health screening services contain a person's biometric data, including blood sugar, cholesterol, triglycerides, LDL/HDL levels, BMI, body compensation, lead level screening, diet analysis, blood typing, and referrals for genetic testing. 

We aim to define the roadblock for getting minority members into care and complying with recommended screenings for chronic diseases outside traumatic events and lifestyle or behavioral choices.  Our innovative approach includes collecting primary data to reduce disparities in the uptake of evidence-based screening across the adult lifespan. y organization currently helps improve the community's health by collaborations between local churches, social services, and other community-integrated organizations providing health fair services.

We are seeking funding to expand services within the DC metro area and into other urban communities. Specifically we are in need to hire four additional nurses and screening equipment for three months. In addition, we would like to provide 100 screenings to those in need, whom do not have insurance or are underinsured. 

Thus, offering a grassroots service model that incorporates reaching the low-to middle-income person and bringing the conversations of precision medicine and public health integration with technology integration into a call to action where capital is allocated. In addition, the recent public health pandemic has provided a platform of familiarity with utilizing genetic protein biomarkers to support immunity. The long-term goal is to identify the pharmacogenetic goals of each patient as a best practice and standard to care.
