Nakx is an OTT (Over-the-top) television streaming service for independent filmmakers to broadcast their content to larger and diverse audiences while generating income.
Houston, we've have a problem
Film festivals for many years have been one of the most efficient ways to share a filmmaker's work. However, most festivals charge filmmakers to submit their film to possibly have their film in the program and don't do the marketing when filmmakers are paying for marketing services. Filmmaking is not easy or cheap and to pay to possibly get your film showed is a pricy chance.
Filmmakers need return but there are not a lot of options other than those film festivals, TVOD (transactional video-on-demand), distribution deals or other self-distribution avenues. Studies show that 95% of filmmakers fail using TVOD method because consumers are not willing to rent independent films due of the lack of visibility and bias towards low budget films. And while there are platforms like Amazon Prime Video that allow self-uploading and 3rd party distributors that will make deals for you, it's not enough. With major percentage cuts, it's difficult to make what it costed to make your film.
Market Size
Every year consumers watch over 100 hours of content and pour money into visual media entertainment. People watch an average of 16 hours of online video per week, which is a 52% increase in the last two years.
Our Goal

Right now independent filmmakers do not have many options to obtain a large audience, keep their creative rights and make profit. The platforms that are available today take large percentage cuts, do not pay well, and lack performing marketing campaigns (mostly due to promoting bigger budgeted films). Nakx is independent focused; our platform is to show films that have the quality and potential to gain bigger traction. Our business model is a combination of Ad-Video on Demand (AVOD) with a linear TV setup and subscriptions. Independent films/web-series have a large impact in the entertainment industry so let's make it known for those in the back!!!
What's next?
The application is currently in development and our goal is $5,000 to complete . Once completed, we will use the rest to cover server space, incentive funds (this is to pay filmmakers for their content's performance), marketing, and technical support.

- What does Nakx mean?
- Neon, Argon, Krypton, Xenon. These are noble gases that cannot be see until an electrical current passes through them. Independent filmmakers too often are not seen and their work goes unnoticed. This platform is like the electrical current that amplifies their content and supports them to gain more visibility and financial success.
- Who are Indie partners?
- Indie partners are filmmakers that have less than 7 pieces of content. Their films and/or web-series will be placed on a Nakx operated channel based on genre.
- Who are Network partners?
- Independent production companies that produce their own content and/or have a library of content(7+ pieces of content). These partners can manage their own channels.
- How do filmmakers make money?
- Indie partners only receive payment based on content performance. Network partners receive performance incentives and shared ad-revenue.
