About the Nailroom by SK and our products
The Nailroom by SK is a black-owned online store which specializes in selling press-on nails. Press-on nails are artificial nails made of ABS plastic and painted with nail polish and/or embellished. Our collections include both customized as well as pre-made nails. Our store was established in 2017 with the goal of providing beautiful salon manicured nails at an affordable price.
Impact
At The Nailroom by SK our commitment to our community is at the core of our culture. Therefore we created a scholarship worth $1000 at Centennial College, Ontario. The scholarship is awarded to a woman who shows a dedication to her studies as well as involvement in her school and/or community.
Gap in the market and how we are filling it
The temporary closure of nail salons due to the Corona Virus Pandemic created a vacuum where women were left without anywhere to go to get their nails done. As a result the need arose for press-on nails which could be delivered and applied at home .The advantage of press-on nails is that they cause less damage to the original nail ,in comparison to acrylic or salon manicured nails.
Market size and future opportunities
Since it's inception in 2017 the store has improved from not only selling online but also in store at the BlackOwnedTO store in Eaton centre Mall, Toronto .The increased demand in press-on nails has resulted in a drastic increase in our sales . We have already made more in our first quarter of 2022 than we did for the entire 2021 year .
Statistics as of May 20th 2022:
Revenue increased 90% compared to the same period last year.
Orders increased 86% compared to the same period last year
Visits to our website increased 271% compared to the same period last year.
The popularity of press-on nails as a quick go to alternative to salon nails keeps growing. Recently celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Ariana Grande and Jennifer Lopez were all spotted wearing press-on nails. In addition several runway fashion shows have also included press-on nails for their models.
How your funds will support us
Currently The Nailroom by SK is completely self-funded . Your funding will mainly support our endeavors to have more in-store presence, launch a nail polish line and enable us to hire more staff to meet our rising demands.With your help we also hope to increase our scholarship to assist more women with their tuition fees.

- HOW LONG DO THE NAILS LAST?
You can expect our press-on nails to stick around for about a week and a half,
- DO THE NAILS COME WITH GLUE?
Each set comes complete with a storage box, nail glue, double-sided nail file, cuticle stick, nail adhesive tabs and alcohol pad
- HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE NAILS?
The best way to remove press-ons is to soak them in a bowl filled with warm water .You can also soak them in acetone-based nail polish remover . Soak them until the glue breaks down and the nails become loose enough to effortlessly pull them off or until they fall off on their own.
