DESIGNED BY AN EXPERT DOULA
Mumdies are designed to bring comfort and femininity back to the early stages of motherhood.
The Mumdies Mission is to close the gap in the market for undergarments that support women during their most sensitive times: pregnancy, labour and birth. There are very few options that exist on the market that are functional, supportive and comfortable. The closest available products are for menstrual bleeding and urinary incontinence (aka bladder leakage). No Mom wants to wear a diaper.
She is having a baby, she is not incontinent.
Moms need more and they deserve more.
Mumdies are comfortable with a V-shaped waist for every growing and shrinking belly. They will encourage healing with stitches and incisions. And because of the soft, breathable fabric the special weave won't catch on stitches. They are also discreet, and leakproof with fibres that will remove odours, prevent infection and encourage healing.
We Want New Moms to be Fully Absorbed in Motherhood
MUMDIES ARE GOOD FOR THE PLANET!
Why Disposable?
Two main factors influenced the decision to make Mumdies disposable. Mumdies are designed to be worn during labour to capture amniotic fluid (if your water breaks) and other fluids associated with labour. Mumdies being disposable helps to minimize infection, and bring efficiency and comfort to your labour process.
The second factor is the bleeding that comes after birth is very different from your monthly menstrual bleeding. It is important that we use very absorbent and safe materials as your bleeding will consist of tissue, mucus and blood. It is also of the utmost importance that we keep any stitches or cuts as clean as possible to encourage and support the healing process. This is best achieved by being able to frequently change your underwear and to draw as much moisture as possible away from the skin.
Minimizing your laundry while you are resting and bonding with your baby is an added bonus.
A COMFORTABLE POSTPARTUM
Every new mother should be able to lay in bed and breastfeed her newborn baby without worrying about leaking or being uncomfortable. We have created a solution to this problem that is feminine, effective and healing - one that finally puts Moms first!
IDEAL FOR PREGNANCY, BIRTH + POSTPARTUM
Mumdies are perfect for the final weeks of pregnancy and have been designed to be discreet so you can wear them under everyday clothes. Mumdies will help to keep feel secure, safe and comfortable during your labour and postpartum periods.
Why am I the right person to solve this issue?
As a birth doula, I spend my days (and nights!) working with women through their most vulnerable moments and transformations. I understand the difficulties that women face in this gap, and I have also experienced them myself. I have helped over a hundred women give birth and I have also cared and supported them on their postpartum journey.
I am a Mom, I am a woman and I am a woman of colour. If there are any challenges I understand, it is the challenges that we as women all face on a daily basis. It is my mission to put Moms first, and bring comfort and femininity back to the birth process.
My goal is to to raise funds in order to purchase our first round of inventory and start selling to Moms everywhere !
We want to say thank you.
Thank you so much for supporting us as we support women all over the world as they transition into the most important job they (or anyone!) will ever do.
I feel that a crucial part of making Mumdies successful is women supporting women! Whether you have already had your children or they are yet to come, know that you will be helping future Moms feel loved, cared for and supported when they need it the most.
