MoneyVentures, Financial App for Children

Takasha Wroten and Nikola Ahaiwe, co-founders of The Kinship Group LLC, have teamed up to create MoneyVentures, an app designed to promote financial awareness and empowerment by equipping children with the knowledge, resources and tools that will allow them to grow into financially responsible adults.

The cousin duo came up with the concept for the app after both recognizing the huge disparity in access to financial education and resources for children and teens in inner cities. With both women growing up in single parent households, they realized that neither felt that they were provided with the necessary information and teaching to make smart financial decisions by the time they reached adulthood.

What is the mission of your company or project?

The vision for MoneyVentures is to usher in a generation of financially empowered and fiscally responsible children who will carry the money principles into adulthood. We will achieve that goal by teaching money principles that will help them navigate the financial world in a fun and exciting way. Our mission is to educate those communities that are lacking access to financial education and resources to get on a path to financial wholeness to power their futures.

The problem...

At MoneyVentures, we recognize that children in families living on the lower socioeconomic scale may not be introduced, or exposed, to financial stabilities, or even recognize that it is missing. We want to bridge that gap from a poor start to an exceptional finish. We will achieve that goal by teaching money principles that will help them navigate the financial world in a fun and exciting way.

What sets the MoneyVentures App apart from other money apps for kids is that it disguises learning as fun. Most apps only allow children to earn money through chores and allowance, however, with MoneyVentures, children are rewarded for their financial accomplishments, milestones, and growth.
