Project Description

  • Hope Service Dogs, Inc., 501(c)(3) non-profit was established in 2018 to provide service, therapy, and companion dogs that are bred, raised, and trained precisely for mitigating the unique needs of individuals with disabilities and veterans.

  • HSD is proud to announce we are currently expecting a litter of Golden Retrievers with quality European and American blood lines. We are seeking a grant to help cover the cost of breeding, whelping, raising and testing the litter. Ginger’s due date is September 13.

    • The total cost for this litter is expected to be $15,928.72, if a caesarean section is needed the cost will be at least $21,928.72.

  • HSD uses a variety of methods to ensure that the puppies in the breeding program are of the highest caliber.
    • From birth, the puppies of HSD are evaluated in order to determine which puppies are best suited various careers.
    • At three days old, HSD puppies begin daily exercises for early neurological stimulation as well as early scent introduction.
    • HSD puppies are extensively socialized with humans, dogs and other animals. Habituation begins immediately as well.
    • HSD puppies are raised with the Avidog and Puppy Culture curriculum, under the care and direction of NePoPo® certified trainers.
    • Initial temperament testing and evaluation concludes at seven weeks old. The puppies are assigned after being assessed for their potential in diverse scenarios.
    • HSD performs diligent testing on all puppies in the litter in order to ensure excellent prospects.  All puppies are given Embark genetic testing to determine their health genetics and if they are potential carriers for conditions. At five months old, the puppies kept by HSD begin evaluation via Pennhip as well as OFA hip and elbow prelims. This information determines if the puppy is qualified to enter our breeding program, as well as which will enter our Warrior Program for Veterans.
  • Since 2018 HSD has proudly introduced four litters.

    • Two litters were Golden Retrievers, one litter of Poodles, and one litter of Doberman Pinschers.

    • These four litters totaled thirty-two puppies: twenty service dogs, three therapy dogs, and nine companion dogs.

    • The litters bred by HSD are also tested for possible contribution to the HSD breeding program and the Warrior Program for veterans.
