At Mosaic, our products are made by survivors of exploitation and those vulnerable to exploitation.  Threaded focuses on reducing waste by upcycling gently used items, providing affordable and stylish options for a circular economy. Both businesses central aim is building community and inspiring others that they can change the world.
 

The Problem... 

1. There is a need for a wider market place of products made by survivors and other vulnerable people groups. 
    
2. Fast fashion poses a significant threat to both people and the planet, causing detrimental effects such as exploitative labor practices, excessive waste, and pollution.
    
3. Insufficient awareness regarding environmental and social issues hinders progress in addressing and solving these problems, perpetuating negative impacts on the environment and society.
    

The Solution

1. Lack of Marketplace for Sustainable + Ethically Sourced Products
   
   Mosaic Collective addresses the issue of limited availability of products that are made with fair trade practices, promote sustainability, and support artisans. We provide customers with a platform to purchase high quality goods that have a positive impact on communities and the environment.
    
2. Fast Fashion is Harming People + Planet
   
   Threaded tackles the problem of the environmental and social consequences of fast fashion by promoting thrift shopping and the circular economy. By giving life to gently used items, Threaded reduces waste and encourages customers to make more sustainable choices when it comes to their clothing purchases.
    
3. Lack of Awareness on Environmental and Social Issues
   
   Both businesses aim to educate and raise awareness among their customers about social and environmental injustices. We provide platforms for learning and discussion through in-store messaging, events, and workshops, encouraging customers to take action and make a difference in those areas.

With our small but mighty team and the backing of our passionate community (yes, that means YOU!), we are now ready to embark on the next chapter. These steps we are about to take may be intimidating and daunting, as we transition to two 2,000 sq ft spaces and expand our staff. However, they signify much more than that...

• Future employment for members of the Lynchburg community, particularly those who are survivors themselves. 
• The rescue of countless garments from ending up in landfills.

The Demand for Sustainable Products

Recent trend reports indicate a surge in socially responsible consumer spending. It's reaching an all-time high and growing by approximately 25% annually (source). A growing community of mindful buyers (like you!) seek to invest in products that abstain from sweatshop labor and environmentally damaging practices.
