The M. (Minority) Grant Space!

The M.Grant Project’s mission begins with the people it serves; minority entrepreneurs, small business owners, and nonprofit founders. By providing business documentation, preparation courses, workshops and other resources, the company helps to eliminate capital gaps minorities face by assuring they’re equipped to access funding well before applying.

Access to funding is still one of the largest and most detrimental barriers for minority business owners, along with a lack of access to educational resources that teach business management skills in early stages. Without access to individuals like advisors, peers, colleagues or other business owners, many minority-owned businesses are at a disadvantage, especially when needing advice or support on the specific challenges they face. (Forbes.com)  Minorities also face bias & large barriers when attempting to secure funding, especially businesses with less than $500,000 in gross receipts, not to mention interests rates almost 3x’s higher than non-minorities.

There are more than 2 million Black-owned businesses in the United States, and that number is growing rapidly since the onset of the Covid-19 pandemic. Yet, 68% of Black business owners report being challenged with generating startup capital.

The M.Grant Project believes in community impact. This year, we are preparing to award our 4th $500 Small Business Grant to a deserving entrepreneur, our services have helped drive 377 minority businesses in 13 States through this crisis, and we manage a Minority Grants Group on Facebook that has grown to over 4000 Members in recent months! We also believe in preparation. Although we provide an updated Grants lists and Crowdfunding Platform on our website, when consulting with new and potential clients, we spend considerable time on assuring the proper documentation and licensing is in place, registrations have been filed, and that entrepreneurs are operating from customized, investor-ready Business Plans.

In order to advance to our next stage of growth, The M.Grant Project seeks to have a physical location that operates as a Shared Space between our team of expert affiliates, clients positioning themselves to access funding, and community members seeking to start their projects. Members of our space will be able to network and collaborate with peers, work independently, browse and apply for Grants & other funding opportunities listed on our database, have 1-on-1 consultations, attend workshops, and more. Our team of Affiliates come from considerably diverse backgrounds, yet stand in agreement that making minority funding a priority is what meets our bottom line.
