MY WHY

I am a first-time author of the book, Living BIG: Bold, Inspired & Gifted (Shattering the Looking Glass to Release the Greatness Within). This book was birthed out of a true passion to see those who doubt their gifts, skills, and abilities shift their mindset beyond their own marred presumptions of themselves to unleash the beast of potential that resides in every one of us.

WHAT WE WANT TO DO

It is my desire to be able to develop programs, workshops, and community initiatives to share my personal story of overcoming the negative stereotypes and discrimination associated with living as an overweight child, teen, and adult.  I have walked through my own journey to take the steps needed to heal from hurt, emotional trauma, and self-destructive behavior and that has opened the door to living a more bold, more inspired, and gifted life.

I want to now share my journey and pathway to healing with others who have their own personal challenges and obstacles which have kept them from achieving their dreams. My hope is that by doing so I can inspire them to reposition and realign to take the action they need to walk boldly into their destinies and encourage them to live life in a BIG way.

I will be developing programs and producing supporting materials to build a curriculum to be shared with high schools, colleges, and community organizations.

The curriculum will be built around the contents of my book and also include personalized journals. The goal is to conduct comprehensive group coaching workshops that will be held within a 4-week time frame and culminate with a SOAR Awards Ceremony where each participant is celebrated and applauded for their efforts to rise above obstacles, pain, and emotional trauma to begin the journey to living a life filled with purpose. 

Funding will be used to provide course and award ceremony materials, marketing and promotional items, participant incentives, and printing costs.

MEET VERNA

Founder & CEO | Purpose Alignment Strategist 

Verna Mayers-Fakunle is a lover of God, an author, entrepreneur, professional development coach, and empowerment speaker. Verna has spent her entire life living with the stigma of everything that comes with being overweight. She was an overweight child, an overweight teen, and is now an overweight adult. As a result, she spent many years paralyzed by fear and self-doubt.

She had many dreams that she allowed to expire and many goals that she set which fell by the wayside all because she didn’t allow herself to walk in the awesomeness of everything God had uniquely designed and gifted her to be.

This journey has also led to her leveraging twenty-three years serving in various roles within higher education including teaching and administration to now become a full-time entrepreneur serving as the Founder and CEO of Inspired Strategies, LLC, a professional development coaching and consulting firm specializing in strategic alignment and leadership development. Verna is blessed to share her customized programs and trainings to colleges/universities, corporate conferences and retreats, as well as work with others to help them align their own dreams with the strategic actionable steps they need to achieve them.

She is an avid reader who also loves to travel, cook, and spend quality time with her family.
