Lexmetics, Clean Sustainable Beauty Women of Color

At Lexmetics we pledge representation around the globe for all women of color. We're the present and future of the beauty industry believing in equal representation, vegan ingredients, bunny friendly, and designed with sustainable refill products at an affordable price point. At Lexmetics we're striving for equality, and luxury quality makeup products that women of color can access easily online and in the near future our retail environments. We want to uplift women of color to love themselves, and their skin with our products. We believe that we can rise above the common standards within the beauty industry by introducing innovative products, with quality ingredients that are catered to women of color. 

• What is the market size/opportunity
• Women of color face little to no access to affordable clean makeup products in the beauty industry that are made exclusively for them. Majority of makeup brands in the industry formulate with harsh chemicals that impact hormones, fertility, and often associate with forms of cancer. Not only is there limited access to the clean exclusive products, but the beauty industry is a leading contributor of plastic waste leaving a strong impact on the landfills and overall carbon footprint of the environment.
• Lexmetics will resolve these problems by releasing a full range of makeup products exclusive to all women of color. The products will include a full line of liquid foundations, face primer, lip products, and eyeshadow palettes. The products are formulated with clean ingredients and anti-aging properties to provide the luxurious experience of skincare in the makeup, with the price point of a drugstore brand of makeup.
• I am seeking funding because I need to cover the remaining costs for production with the labs. I've been using my own funds from my seasonal job as well as the grant I was awarded from a program I participated in from my grad school. I have applied to several grant opportunities and have been denied the funding due to not having a physical product ready. If I have the funding to cover costs, then my physical products will be up and ready to premiere this fall. 
• Who is on your team?
• I am currently the only person on my team. Over time as the brand grows, my husband will join as COO for the company and I plan to bring on my stepfather as CFO in the future as well. My mother would also be involved over time as the program director for our brand's foundation program called, "Bloom Where You Are Planted." This program will be a local mentorship program offered to middle school through college- aged minority girls in Central Florida who have dreams of starting their own businesses someday.
