Project Description

94% of C-suite women have played sports and if we want to continue to close the confidence gap we have to KEEP GIRLS IN SPORTS because 14-years-old girls are dropping out of sports at two times the rate of boys.

There was a point I loved my sport more than anything. You never truly fall out of love with your sport... just certain environments and seasons in your life make you question your love for it. We focus on Keeping Girls in Sports.  We aim to serve as a "big sister" and build a community of people who remind girls they're not alone. Their next best quarter is just starting. However, when you're young there are so many times you feel alone and you feel as if you're the only person experiencing life’s hardships when the reality is there are so many others with the same situation. In my first year as a coach at Baylor I worked really late nights and I would always see one of my player’s in the gym. One day I asked her, "Why are you here so late?"  She replied that she was there to, "Feel better not to get better." It was in that moment that I realized sport is therapy. Our product presents as clothing but the really is it's so much more than that. It's not just something you wear. It's art, it's community and it combats loneliness and helps young girls feel seen.
We sold out of our clothing line in less than a week. We are getting messages from mothers telling us their daughters need our message now more than ever due to problems they are experiencing in sport. We've even had men like Ryan Clark (ESPN Analyst) buy and wear our hoodie because the message related to him personally even though he identifies as a black male that played professional football.

Women's sports are BOOMING now more than ever. Women's Basketball and Women's Volleyball teams have played in and sold out football arenas. Coverage for women's sports is up from 4% to %15. Women's sports are signing record TV Deals. The moment you sign up to play sports you are signing up to get your heart broken. Only 2% of those that play sports will actually make it to the professional level. No matter how long you've played or how much you love your sport you go through heartbreak. Whether it's having a bad coach, injury, decreased playing time or a difficult family/life situation your sport is always there for you. It's the one thing that will never leave you.

The future of this company would not just help keep girls in sports but also provide coaches and parents with resources to combat girls from dropping out of sports. We also want to help cover participation fees in sports. Travel to schools and tournaments and continue to help girls get exposure. We want to share and tell athletes stories how they navigate the athletic identity crisis, mental health & injury. As of now we are using basketball and mental health to spread our message but eventually we’d love to branch out in to other sports as well. We’ve gotten requests from volleyball, soccer, lacrosse & tennis.

There are two of us that have over 10+ years working experience in College Athletics. One of our Team Member's helped build a clothing brand from the ground up that does over $100,000 in sales per month.  Our founder is responsible for building and working with some of the biggest names in college basketball. She also is responsible for leading the charge of social media coverage for women's basketball and women’s sports as a whole. She helped build and sell a company when she was at the age of 25. She's the first and only woman to build two women's sports account for two different companies to reach over +1,000,000 followers. She also hosted a snapchat show that had +1,000,000 subs and received over +1,000,000 per episode. She is the founder of Overtime Women's Basketball account which is the largest women's basketball media account on Instagram. She is also known for building the fastest growing sports account on TikTok known as Togethxr, the company was founded by Sue Bird, Alex Morgan, Simone Manuel and Chloe Kim. She played basketball for the University of Maryland and then when on to coach at the University of Connecticut. After that she served as an analyst for BTN & ESPN. Following her time in broadcasting she went on to coach at Baylor and spearheaded the university's NIL Initiative and helped the school become #1 in total NIL Compensation throughout the BIG12.

The Campaign FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • Why is it only for women's basketball?
    • Chloe Pavlech, our founder, has a personal connection to the sport. We are a team of two-full time members and one-part time member. Our goal is to get to add and create for more sports but as of now we want to focus on a specific demographic.
  • What are Sad Girl Hours?
    • When you practice or train for your sport it's not always to get better... it's to feel better.  Sport is therapy. The hours where you question yourself or experience hardships in life the one thing that will never leave you and always be there for you is your sport.
  • I don't feel like the girl on the design represents me. Is sad girl inclusive or for me?
    • The girl on the design represents our founder and her personal experience in sport. Our founder struggled with identity issues all throughout childhood and young adulthood. We want everyone to feel comfortable in our community. Our founder acknowledges that, "Including non-binary people in feminine coded spaces perpetuates the misconception that all non-binary people identify with aspects of femininity. Non-binary people have a variety of identities. They can feel masculine, feminine, neither, both etc. Equating non-binary people with women may work for some individuals but leaves out many more. My hope is that no matter how you identify if you ever played sports this message and art speaks directly to your inner-child. I hope you feel seen."
