Hues of Healing: From Start Up to Success
Hues of Healing Therapy is a virtual mental health counseling practice focused on Black Women's Mental Health wellness and advocacy.
Project Description
- The mission of Hues of Healing Therapy is to provide a safe and non-judgemental space for Black women to unpack and overcome life's challenges, difficulties, and hardships to evolve into their best selves.
- Hues of Healing Therapy seizes the opportunity to de-stigmatize mental health awareness in the African-American community in a way that cultivates change, conversations, and collaboration within the community to normalize therapy.
- Hues of Healing Therapy aims provide virtual mental health counseling for young adult and adult Black women ages 18-40. It is our goal to provide tele-health services for at least 48 clients a month in North Carolina. It is also our aim to create a wellness fund for women who do not have the financial resources to pay for therapy.
- Hues of Healing Therapy focuses on healing the minds, hearts, and souls of young adult and adult Black Women through virtual mental health counseling. Hues of Healing provides convenient options to receiving mental health treatment from the comfort of one's own home. It also helps to de-stigmatize mental illness and health in the African-American community by providing a safe space for clients to work through trauma, grief, depression, and anxiety with a therapist that is compassionate, relatable, and empathetic to each client's unique healing journey.
- Hues of Healing Therapy is seeking funding to go from being a start-up to launching a full-time private practice. $400 will be spent to purchase an PLLC to legitimize my business. I would also use $1,000 purchase therapy resources, books, and continuing education credits in order to be the most effective therapist I can be for my clients.
I would also use the $2,000 to pay for my clinical supervision that is a North Carolina state counseling board requirement in order for me to legally practice as a mental health clinician and to obtain my full clinical licensure.
I would use $1,350 it purchase a MacBook for me to have up-to-date technology for me to conduct my therapy sessions virtually.
I would also use $180 to market my business on TherapyForBlackGirls directory for a full-year in order to gain clientele. I would use $600 to provide six free counseling sessions for a well-deserving client, who may not have the financial means to pay for therapy.

I would also use $600 in for my website's annual maintenance and upkeep. I would also use $125 for my annual counseling liability insurance. And lastly, I would use $245 for social media advertisements to drive clients to my business.

- Corinna Young, LCMHCA, is the founder and owner of Hues of Healing Therapy. Corinna's philosophy of counseling begins and ends compassion, empathy, and understanding. Corinna walks alongside her clients on their journey of healing. As someone who has overcome various difficult life circumstances, Corinna is able to have a genuine heart and listening ear to understand where clients are coming from. Corinna believes that healing encompasses the whole person-mind, body, and soul. She provides counseling that cultivates growth, healing, and restoration by helping clients feel seen, heard, safe. Ultimately, she strives to encourage the client to work on being comfortable with choosing the paths and directions that are best and most effective for them. It is her desire that through Hues of Healing Therapy that clients leave feeling inspired, empowered, and encouraged to be their best selves.

- How does it work? Clients are able to go to the Hues of Healing Therapy website and choose the service they would like to participate in. Services include individual virtual therapy sessions, Psycho-education virtual group, and a free 15-minute consultation.
- How long will it take? Therapy sessions typically take 45 minutes to 1 hour, depending on a client's schedule. Group sessions last one hour. Each potential client can schedule a free 15-minute consultation with the owner to determine if the client and therapist are a good fit for each other.
- What challenges are most of the clients that come to Hues of Healing Therapy for? Each client has unique challenges, but a majority of clients seek therapy for stress, anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and adjustment difficulties to life transitions.
- How often do clients come to therapy? Clients typically come to therapy weekly or bi-weekly, depending on their individual needs at that particular time.
- Is this organization only for African American Women? While we aim to work closely with Black Women, to empower them to heal through therapy, however our practice does provide services other women of color, that includes Hispanic or Latino, African Americans, Asian Americans, American Indian, and Native Hawaiians.
- Do you provide services for women over the age of 40? While Hues of Healing Therapy services women ages 18-40, we also provide services to women 40 and up who are in need of therapy services.
