Project Description

I’m a Mom of 4, so I’ve always been on the lookout for unique goodies for my kids to try (who likes to keep it same ole, same ole anymore?). My vision started with a simple statement of how cool it would be to offer something that no one has truly seen yet, back in 2017. 

  • My husband and I hired a designer for a Logo
  • We collaborated with a marketing firm

In August 2017, we hit the market in our hometown as The Dough Dô Edible Cookie Dough. We had little experience and knowledge of owning a food business and we thought, how hard could it be? Well, within 6 months we closed..we didn’t have the funding to keep going and barely broke even after investing $2k in. 

  1. We tested our market and the actual product was highly anticipated, our follow through and branding stunk. 
  2. We received sales, but could hardly keep up.
  3. We operated as a home-based business.

Determined not to fail again, we both started new careers and I completed several courses about Business Management and Food Industry specifics. We revised our business plan, realistically and found that our market we were in would not succeed without heavy connections in the “rich” side of town. We definitely were looked down upon so at the end of 2019 we moved to South-Central Texas. We planned to open in 2020, but because of Covid-19 we could not. We waited patiently, perfecting our recipes and maintaining our business goals, until Texas re-opened. We built hype, gained a strong and stable social media following, then opened March 15, 2021. 
Over the course of being open, we developed connections throughout our community, heeded advice from a small-business consultant and now have the backing to succeed. This time, we invested $10K of our savings and built our branding. 

  1. We set up online sales, loyalty programs, email campaigns and text message marketing
  2. We retained repeat customers, almost half of our base
  3. Increased sales from week 1 by 115% in Month 3 (first week of May)

This business is my baby and I wanted to bring back trust that was lost throughout the pandemic, create jobs and most importantly, give something sweet to all the families that want something different or new. I’m asking for little because we are set to triple our market and WILL become a National Brand that many families and people will want to do business with.
