Project Description
We are CMDA dance studio, owned by Brittney McBride and Larika Clark.
CMDA dance studio is in the heart of West Los Angeles and we serve underprivileged students from ages 5-18 years of age. CMDA provides a comprehensive selection of dance classes that challenge students and prepare them for advanced dance performances, competitions, college, and the professional dance industry. We offer the following classes: ballet, lyrical, hip-hop, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, tap, and master classes.
In addition to the owners (Brittney and Larika), we currently have 3 instructors (Tanisha, Allison, and Trenton) who continue to support us through this journey.
Our mission is to offer are scholarships to families in need. Every year we provide scholarships to dancers so that they can receive a dance education. In addition, our program keeps the youth off the streets and focused on extracurricular activities that are positive and teach them lifelong lessons. Our program has prepared many dancers for the dance workforce and for college-level dance programs. CMDA is a 2nd home to many students, we are asking for assistance so that we can keep our doors open for our community.
We are seeking to raise 15,000 dollars to support us through the rest of the dance season. We will use these funds for scholarships, instructor fees, and facility fees.

How long have you been in business?
Answer: We have currently been in business for 6 years.
How long have you had financial hardship?
Answer: During Covid, we were forced to pay facility fees although the space could not be used. In addition, we prepaid 20,000 to competition organizations and were not allowed to perform due to the restrictions of covid. We were given credit but no refund. CMDA has yet to perform and lost thousands of dollars. We are also struggling with our numbers (students) as well.
