Project Description

Hermon and Lucille Nunn purchased two properties on Grant St. in Gary, Indiana in 1984 with the idea to be a living space for those who needed quaint places to stay until they were able to transition to the place they dreamed of. From Hermon planting a fresh food garden to Lucille serving up meals to those in need of a break, they worked together to create an environment of hospitality that would last for generations. Many people have come and gone, attributing their next level of success to their stay at Hermon's and Lucille's property.

Our story in short:

In 2017, Hermon discovered his Sister had transitioned and fell ill. He had to be placed in a rehab facility which caused him to transition all his assets, in particular his property to his granddaughter, Dara Adams overnight. But, the buildings sat. Upon the death of Lucille in 2021, Dara knew she had to rebuild this legacy from the ground up but had no information or resources. So the buildings still sat. In 2022, because Hermon needed safe and compassionate long-term care, Dara moved him into her home in Nashville and became his full-time caregiver. Upon having a recent family reunion call with a family member about the property, they sparked back the dream that had gone unspoken.

My desire is to get my grandpa Hermon back in Indiana, living on his property, in his own fully furnished room, where his close relatives, church family, and friends can continually visit.

Here is our new mission:

We exist to build an 8-unit long-term care housing solution to nurture elders in a sanctuary of comfort and compassion. We desire to provide tailored care, honoring their unique desires, abilities, and memories.

We will put hospitality at the forefront of our care, making sure families feel protected and have heartfelt companionship through our services. We want to silence the perception of long-term care homes in Gary, Indiana, by being a luxury space for people's loved ones to spend the rest of their lives in comfort and peace.

We are open to serving elders (with an emphasis on Veterans) who need full care, assisted living care, and those over 55+ who want a mature living environment.

For those who donate to our mission, or even have shared this with a friend....thank you from the bottom of my heart. We cannot do anything without community.

xo, Dara Adams
