Project Description

  • What is the mission of your company or project?

Got This! Inc. envisions a world where people may improve their mind, body, and spirit, from wherever they are. Our mission is to create a spectrum of tools for users to maximize their potential.

Humans are wired for safety and connection.  Got This! Inc. wants to play a leading role in emotional literacy.  We hope to sell leading WE-llness products from our strong background in understanding of psychology.  We are currently testing our Spanish and English versions of our app; however, it was built in 5 languages and we plan to scale to more.  We want to be seen as the international coping model for all price points and users and become a leader in the self-help space.

Socially, we see the opportunity to impact emotional literacy in schools both through the use of the freemium versions as well as through sponsorships so that all students may have an equitable access to self-help tools to lower stress and boost confidence for all children.

  • Describe the problem you are solving.

Everyone has stress, but most people don’t have easy access to self-help techniques when they need it.  Tech natives may be more likely to reach for their device for tools before they reach for other support.

Other potential customers may be able to afford therapy, but it is a resource that is really only available to people who can afford to pay for sessions.  For most stressors, it is not necessary to find a professional therapist to help us reconsider our relationship to our thoughts, emotions, and sensations.  Additionally, there are few providers in the United States that speak Spanish.  The app is available in Spanish and English which makes it more accessible to more users.

There are several mindfulness apps in the marketplace and some rudimentary apps that also used elements of Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), one of the well researched techniques that has been modified for self-use in Got This!; however, mindfulness apps do not address the root causes, beliefs, emotions, and sensations for which contribute to the symptoms.  Other EMDR apps are not as comprehensive and do not track the progress for each goal as Got This! Does.

  • What is the market size/opportunity?

Got This! App is a self-help and motivational app which uses evidence-based techniques.  The audience may be any person from 13 years and up with access to a device; however, we are focusing on the following groups:

  • Individual users with stress and low self-esteem.
    • Psychotherapists and coaches who can have their clients buy the app for themselves and/or use it with their clients during in-person and virtual appointments.
    • Medical Providers looking for waiting room options to lower anxiety before appointments, examinations, MRIs and other worrisome tests.
    • Schools, universities, students, and parents for test-taking and performance anxiety, faculty responsibilities, and parents who want to lower stress after work before re-engaging with their children
  • Group sales
    • Schools and universities as part of their student learning center benefits and emotional literacy curricula.
    • Health insurance providers as member benefits as 40% of medical diagnoses are anxiety related according to AADA studies.
    • Businesses, organizations, and institutions looking to increase options for their members and employees to support COVID reentry stress, and address employees’ general anxiety and stress, a well-researched contributor to missed work days and productivity problems, and boost self-confidence.
    • Airlines to use with in-flight entertainment packages for flight anxiety.
  • What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem?

Everyone has stress, but most people don’t have easy access to self-help techniques when they need it.  Got This! brings self-help to your fingertips.

  • Tech natives may be more likely to reach for their device for tools before they reach for other support.
  • Students with test anxiety can use it before an exam and to help focus during studying.
  • People with flight phobia can use it before their flight and during take-off and landing.
  • Parents can use it while transitioning between work and home to lower stress and connect with their kids in a healthier way.
  • Teachers can use it with their classes to increase emotional literacy and boost confidence.
  • Companies can add it to their benefits packages to lower employee anxiety that leads to days missed.
  • Insurance companies may offer it to members to lower anxiety as 40% of US medical diagnoses are stress related.
  • Spanish speakers have few wellness resources in the United States.  The app can be a resource at a fraction of the cost of other tools in the market or for a professional provider.
  • Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?

We are transitioning from testing into revenue generation, and we need support to grow.

We have a big vision for the app that in the near future:

  • App and website maintenance and development
  • Increase visibility in the marketplace, with EMDR providers, and health providers
  • Complete the social media marketing plan and implement it
  • Launch the podcast and distribute it
  • Implement the SEO and ASO plans so that we can start getting more individual accounts
  • Hire interns for UI/UX, content, marketing, graphic design, and administration
  • Develop crowdfunding platform
  • Record ambassador training using the app for Continuing Education Units for mental health providers and for those who are already EMDR trained (as approved by EMDRIA)
  • Meet with UC Berkeley for support to design more research studies using the app for different stressors
  • By the end of April, the Corporate Plan version of the app will be complete so that we may start testing it through the Spring with PDSA cycle results by August 2022.

The Campaign FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • How Does GOT THIS! Work?

The GOT THIS! Experience provides exercises to help you address different types of challenges or enhance your well-being, allowing you to customize and adjust the tool using different modes.

GOT THIS! Maximizer provides additional features for the GOT THIS! Experience, as well as other programs to achieve goals, fight phobias, relax, build confidence, heal your inner little, and improve your well-being through gratitude or laughing.

The GOT THIS! app does not replace therapy, but it can be helpful when you don’t have a therapist, you’re in between sessions, or you want to see how much you can do on your own. It’s also great for a quick fix right before going into a stressful situation, like a job interview, difficult conversation, performance, or exam.

The GOT THIS! Experience is based on elements of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Results may vary.

Start with the GOT THIS! Experience, tap on the issue you’d like to address, and try it for a minute (or as long as you want) until you start feeling better and believing more positive thoughts about yourself.

If you get worse using GOT THIS! or you are a danger to yourself or others, please stop using the app and seek professional help immediately. You can visit www.emdria.org to find an EMDR  provider near you. In the United States, you can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at (800) 273-8255.

  • What is the research/science behind the app?

The GOT THIS! Experience is based on elements of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Results may vary.

GOT THIS! early research showed that one minute of following an icon with a positive message across the screen was enough to help algebra students feel less stressed before a test. This was the prototype for the GOT THIS! app.

Since 2014, people have used the GOT THIS! app for all kinds of stress: jump starting a new goal, stopping procrastination, enabling relaxation, calming fears, fighting phobias (like flying, spiders, bridges, public speaking), healing a memory, overcoming test anxiety, and tackling a problem. The same study showed that taking a minute for the mind, using deep breathing exercises, also works to decrease test anxiety. GOT THIS! Maximizer has helped users be mindful, relax, or stretch the mind to consider infinite potential. It uses principles from positive psychology, solution focused therapy, systematic desensitization, somatic therapy, color therapy, and more to give your brain an even bigger workout than the GOT THIS! Experience alone.

  • What are the Got This! competitor advantages?

Got This! includes Mindfulness techniques and other evidence-based practices using Relaxation Dynamics, Somatic Therapy, Sensory Experience, Guided Imagery, Positive Psychology, Color Therapy, Emotional Freedom Technique, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Ego State work, EMDR, and other wellness techniques.  Got This! Experiences is built on the Adaptive Information Processing, the foundation for Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing.

I wanted to have tools in place for my clients to use in between sessions and to be utilized during our sessions as building blocks for success.

Targets users who can share progress with anyone they would like to support their goals.

We have a menu of both EMDR based options as well as an entire library of other evidence based tools people can use to practice mindfulness, boost confidence, relax, practice gratitude, laugh, and more.

We also have the only AR version in the marketplace that is fully customizable with choices as well uploadable personalizations to make the experience more specific to the needs of the user.

We also have the ability to overload the working memory across the senses using visual, audio, tactile, and movement options.

Got This! Complex AR is a brain game that is not available on any other platform.  It overloads the working memory that is worrying about a particular stressor and refocuses the attention into customizable stimuli in someone’s real environment.

Got This! offers far more than a visual and audio experience alone as other EMDR based apps currently do.  We build on the EMDR experiences by offering additional evidence-based techniques to help solidify gains and maximize potential while addressing other areas of the brain and nervous system.

Where other apps simply offer a ball on a plain screen, Got This! Is fully customizable, has AR options, uses multiple senses, tracks progress for each goal over time with pre to post scores, and has an entire menu of other evidence-based techniques that enhance the EMDR experience with Got This! Maximizers.

  • what is Got This! Story?

As a psychotherapist, I have helped people reach their goals for over 20 years. It was frustrating that my clients would be on a roll tackling their negative beliefs, feelings, and body sensations, and then have to wait a week before our next appointment.  I wanted them to have access to self-help resources between sessions so we could solidify gains that we made and could build on those successes.

About a decade ago, I designed a basic version of the Got This Experience. I tested the app for my doctoral research in Health Care Leadership to see if it could be used individually at the same time by all students in an Algebra class.   The study showed that students were able  to reduce test-taking anxiety in just one minute.   That’s when I knew I had to get Got This out, to help people with their tests or to reach a positive life goal.  I have had that early version on my website for anyone to use since 2013.  People have told me that they have been using the site for years for everything from preparing for a meeting, helping with monkey mind chatter, boosting excitement, addressing painful memories, or building a new version of themselves.

I’ve always been a community bridge builder and philanthropist at heart.  I believe we need to level the coping playing field by making apps and resources available to everyone.   Our free version of Got This! is an effort to give tools to those who may not otherwise be able to afford it.  I have also wanted to use technology to help students in low-income areas.  Got This is committed to offering the app to schools with the most need in an effort to help shrink the achievement gap and more equitably resource hidden potential of our youth.  We have developed several philanthropic strategies for people to sponsor schools and institutions to have access to the resources available on the Got This! App.

The app is on it’s third version and first MVP and is in the early stages of being shared with users.

  • Who is the Got This! customer?

Got This! App is a self-help app which uses evidence-based techniques to overcome where we get in our own way.

Target marketing and social media directed toward:  Individual with stress and low self-esteem.  Psychotherapists and coaches to use with their clients. Medical Providers lower anxiety before appointments.

Education for test-taking and performance anxiety, and parents who want to lower stress after work before re-engaging with their children

Group sales to HR departments and Administrators of: Schools and universities as part of their student learning center benefits and emotional literacy curricula.Health insurance providers as member benefits as 40% of medical diagnoses are anxiety related. Businesses, organizations, and institutions looking to increase options for their members and employees to support COVID reentry stress, and address employees’ general anxiety and stress, a contributor to missed work days and productivity problems. • How long do I have to use Got This! App for it to work?

Our study showed that a minute of the app was enough to lower stress before an Algebra test. Some of the Got This! Maximizers ask for more of your time. For example, the Laugh Track asks you to aim to laugh along with us for a minute. It’s your time, why not invest it in you?
