The Foodie Doula

 The Foodie Doula Meal Delivery program is not just a service, it’s a multifaceted brand, with female empowerment and social justice at its core. I’m a Mother, wife, Postpartum Doula, Postpartum Chef, Lactation Educator, organic gardener, feminist, and activist. When I was newly postpartum my motivation to cook fell by the wayside, and depression and anxiety set in. Once I recovered and found my rhythm as a mother, I made it my mission to incorporate holistic meal prep into my doula services, to combat the stress, anxiety, and mental/physical fatigue that often comes with becoming a parent. I saw first hand how dramatically having access to nutritional support impacted my clients overall well being, and postpartum experience, and in turn my work became that much more rewarding.

   As a black woman I recognized that there was a disparity in the demographic of clients that I was supporting. I knew I needed to find a way to broaden my bandwidth, and reach underserved mothers in my community. I realized that by starting a premium artisanal meal delivery service, designed with mothers and women in mind, I could configure a charitable percentage into my cost, and subsidize nutritional meal prep for the underserved birthing people in my community . The rights of women and mothers in particular are still so incredibly infringed upon in the United States, and women of color are systemically receiving inadequate support, with the highest maternal mortality rate. As the chief operating officer of The Foodie Doula Meal prep program, I’ve also begun curating and producing social media content and online resources that are focused on connecting women, mothers and birthing people, with information that’s meant to educate, empower and motivate. 

We're seeking funding to help mass produce some of our specialty items, print and distribute The Foodie Doula Pocket Cookbook, and build a reliable team of nutritionists, chefs, and marketing professionals that will help us to strengthen the Foodie Doula infrastructure, and accelerate it's growth. When we grow, and broaden our reach as a company, we're able to increase the number of underserved birthing people we can support.
