​​About Fraser's Mathematics Solutions

Fraser's Mathematics Solutions (FMS) provides comprehensive training around high-quality mathematics teaching and learning for administrators, teachers and parents through onsite and virtual math institutes.  In addition, we've created "The Dope Math Product Line" of notebooks, pencils, and rulers to honor students as they illuminate in the math classroom.

The Problem

By the 8th grade, many students of color, especially girls, lose interest and feel less confident in mathematics because of social stereotypes, their own fear of making mistakes and the lack of access to relevant, fun and accessible experiences.  Consequently, while women and people of color make up 47% and 31% of the labor force respectively, they only comprise 27% and 16% of careers that require a specialty in mathematics.  Additionally, parents feel overwhelmed when trying to help their children at home with the "new math".

The Solution

"The Dope Math Product Line" takes a creative approach to support learners in grades 5-9 as they continue to strive for excellence in their mathematics journey.  The math tips, kool math facts, lined paper, graph paper, reference sheet, pencils, and rulers provided will keep students passionate and intrigued about math and ensure that they maintain a positive mindset.  It only takes one "a-ha" moment or one interesting fact to create a positive experience in child's math about math, which will increase the likelihood of them majoring in fields that have a mathematical focus. 

Our Team

Our team at Fraser's Mathematics Solutions are all vested in ensuring that children learn new ways to build agency and advocate for themselves in any mathematics classroom.  Our CEO, Director of Curriculum & Training, Program Manager, and Project Manager have 36 years combined in the classroom.  As current PhD students,  graduates of Columbia, Rutgers, and Saint Louis Universities, and authors of national math education guidance documents, this team knows what it takes to motivate students in mathematics.

About Jaliyla Fraser, CEO & Founder

Jaliyla earned her MA in Mathematics Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and her BS in Secondary Education & Mathematics from Temple University. 

Jaliyla's experience as a math supervisor and curriculum writer for 7 years allowed her to work closely with school stakeholders, parents, and students to provide ongoing support of math content and pedagogy.  She has spent the last 8 years as a Professor of Mathematics at Rutgers-Newark, sits on the New Jersey Computer Science Advisory Board, is a mathematics advisor for the Institute for Anti-Racist Education, served as a math consultant for Student Achievement Partners where she co-authored the High School Math Priority Standards for Achieve the Core, and is currently editing a mathematics textbook.

Jaliyla is also a chartering member of the Central New Jersey Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the recipient of a resolution from the City of East Orange for her accomplishments and dedication to children.
