Empowering Women & Women Veterans by encouraging expression through writing, creating and thriving in a community of support!
I'm a single mom, a Navy Veteran, an entrepreneur and a woman on a mission to my own empowerment who wants to empower my community of women and women veterans right along with me!
escríbeme is a Spanish phrase for "write me" or "write to me" and it is the foundation for the concept behind a creative women's collective.
So many women and women veterans have faced trauma in their lives and the therapeutic process of writing, creating and thriving towards personal empowerment in a supportive community has proven to be some of the best pathways for these women to improve upon themselves.
escríbeme intends to be a physical place in Sacramento, California for women of trauma to work in a supportive and cooperative environment with holistic health coaches, mentors, therapists, and mentors on hand leading workshops, classes and available one to one in support of women interested in expressing themselves in a safe and supportive environment through creative writing and artistic creation to heal pain and move towards an empowered future.
I am seeking funding for this project to ensure that there is a spectacular place in Sacramento for women and women veterans to find a community of support and a means to grow past trauma. escríbeme is to be a cooperative work space which will thrive on memberships, renting professional office spaces and in registrations for offered workshops. The funding I am seeking to get it started will help to open the doors and launch us towards a successful future!

How will women benefit from escríbeme?
An estimated 70 percent of women in the United States have experienced a traumatic event at least once in their lives and up to 20 percent of these people go on to develop post traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD. An estimated 5 percent of Americans—more than 13 million people—have PTSD at any given time.
escríbeme will benefit these women by creating a safe space to work specifically on moving past their trauma through writing, creating and working with coaches, therapists and by being surrounded by a supportive collaborative group who knows what they're going through or have gone through!
How will women veterans benefit?
An increasing number of women are serving in the U.S. military and women are the fastest growing group of Veterans. Women Veterans were approximately 9.4% of the total Veteran population in 2015, which represents about 2 million women. Estimates suggest this percentage will increase to about 16% in 2040. Women Veterans experience military sexual trauma and develop PTSD at a rate of 1 in 5 as reported by the VA.
The founder of escríbeme is a United States Navy Veteran who has experienced trauma and sexual trauma leading to PTSD, anxiety, depression et al. both in and out of the military. By bringing in Women Veterans who have been able to tackle their PTSD and have found ways to creatively move forward in their lives it greatly benefits Women Veterans by having supportive peers who have been through their experiences. Our strength is in our collaboration and the collective ability to be there for one another to get through the hard times and to celebrate the wins!
