Project Description

Thank you for taking your time to visit our nonprofit page. The Empowerment Project.

We are raising money to uplift communities of color by equipping them with the resources to change their financial trajectory. We envision a future in which financial institutions and communities can innovate and increase opportunities for communities of color to build wealth and financial capability.

As the economy reels from the fallout of the coronavirus pandemic, people are experiencing high unemployment, bankruptcy, and a looming recession - which could have lasting effects. For people of color or in underserved communities, the effects will last even longer. Providing equitable access to personal finance education is more important now than ever.

What we’re going through today is on everyone’s mind as the downstream effects of coronavirus hit the economy. Many financial experts and economists are struggling to grasp the magnitude of impact the coronavirus will have on the economy in the months and years ahead. Many families are already feeling the effect, especially those who were in a financially vulnerable situation before the crisis, it’s hitting the financially fragile especially hard, reinforcing the need for personal finance education.

While financial education certainly won’t solve all of the economic challenges people of color and families are facing, it, however, can play a role in helping them build positive habits, find funding for a home, save for emergencies, and make fewer financial mistakes that could set them back.

Closing the financial literacy gap is obviously only part of the solution to the complex economic fallout related to coronavirus—in addition to addressing the huge wealth gap that already existed prior to this crisis.

Thank you for your consideration. Your support goes a long way, please help with a donation.

  • Eradicate Racial Inequalities in Underserved Communities

Racial inequality has eaten deeply into the roots of our current environment. It’s so bad that it affects every area of life. Racial inequality has been a huge problem, from access to adequate financing, poor credit scores, and credit abuses to inadequate housing.

With this problem in mind, The Empowerment Project NFP is driven by providing adequate financial programs designed to help provide a lasting solution to financial literacy.

Thus, The Empowerment Project NFP is on a mission to ADDRESS and ERADICATE racial inequities through financial literacy knowledge in underserved communities. This mission is designed to cut across all age groups, including entrepreneurs, returning citizens, college students, or at-risk youth.

To help us achieve this mission, this non-profit organization is built its core values on a solid foundation of EfficiencyCommitment to Program Delivery, and Transparency.
