Project Description
Our Mission
To provide services to all communities, businesses, schools, and law enforcement agencies alike. Programs and curriculum-based courses, training, seminars, and presentations provide accessible, affordable, quality education to both rehabilitative and bring researched knowledge involving criminal justice.
We Aim to Help All Areas.
Law enforcement and the many different categories of criminal justice have shown real issues with transparency and openness. When challenges occur (negative officer interaction), we all have seen where other entities come in and create a sense of normalcy. This is a true issue and it concerns communities where they see officers are not properly trained.
Communities along with businesses do not understand how to navigate the criminal justice system and are not educated on in-depth awareness and prevention. They are not empowered nor well versed on statutes, codes, and even the constitutional rights they possess.
Programs that were created years ago are not motivating juveniles that are at-risk or youth that is close to becoming at risk. Youth detentions and crime rates are at a high due to the pandemic and schools being closed. The problem is that there is no structure for youth and they crave strong mentor figures that can give that to them.
The Solution is… We ARE the Solution!
There is a strong misconception that no one wants to know about what transpires within the criminal justice system, law enforcement, and there is not an organization or business promoting positive reinforcements when challenges do occur. That is where we come in. We at 1st Source Defense LLC, have created comprehensive programs geared to keeping the community safe (self-defense, stop by a cop, active shooter training). Creating, building, and facilitating programs, seminars, and presentations for youth to give them structure and order. These programs range from saying no to bullying to a full-on program called Re-Directions (which helps build behavioral skills). Building additive programs for law enforcement starting with School Resource Officers and going farther into the criminal justice system.
Introducing… At this time a one-woman journey
At this time, I am working, creating, facilitating, and building these programs, seminars, presentations, and training on my own. While having a background in law enforcement and criminal justice, I have now been on both sides of the spectrum (public and private sectors). I have been a sheriff deputy on the road, a school resource officer, and I have worked within investigations as a narcotics investigator (gang liaison), crime scene investigator, missing persons, and special victims’ investigator, and within the college setting as a police officer victim advocate. I have seen and been on the frontline of experience. Being able to research and bring reputable data to my courses is amazing and I want to be able to do this nationwide while obtaining my Ph.D. in Criminal Justice. There is a great number of women obtaining their Ph.D.’s but less obtaining them in criminal justice. Once everything is strong and running proficiently, I look to add valuable and experienced individuals to the team so the facilitating and training can be done worldwide.
We Can Not Do This Without You
I am seeking funding to:
- Finish copyrighting and trademarking protections for all works.
- Create a website for the business itself with every function listed on it.
- Be able to make publications/manuals for distribution for training.
- Help finance expenses (travel to bills).
- Employ educated and experienced individuals.
- Establishing a brick-and-mortar for in-house training, presentations, assessments, and offices.
I have put my all into my business and getting everything out now I am using the last of my savings to go toward this vision.

Q: Is there a need for additional training after officers go through academy training?
A: Yes, officers go through academy training to get the basics of what will sustain them in the field. 1st Source Defense creates programs that will be an addition to what officers have learned keeping them abreast of new laws, perceptions, assumptions, and what is needed.
Q: How can 1st Source Defense, LLC be a fixture in the community?
A: By creating empowerment programs, seminars, classes, courses, and just listening to what is needed in the community helps build strong bonds and relationships giving 1st Source Defense the title of liaison.
Q: Will juveniles and youth receive quality training from these programs created? Who would the programs benefit?
A: We have had parents and guardians asking for more programs to help the youth. We answered the call. These programs will benefit youth that are at-risk for dropping out of school, have behavioral challenges, are depressed or show signs of depression, have adult-authority issues, teenage parents, so-called underachievers, the gifted and talented, individuals in or returning from a juvenile facility, in transition during family changes (ranging from death to divorce).
