Project Description
The global natural hair care product market size was estimated at USD 8.74 billion in 2019 and is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.7% from 2020 to 2027. Rising awareness related to the benefits of natural hair care products is one of the key factors fueling the market growth.
Studies have shown that nearly 80% of hair products aimed at black women contain chemicals linked to cancer, infertility, fibroids, and obesity.
Black women, in particular, purchase over 3 times as many hair care products than any other demographic. However, Black women are 3 times more likely than their female counterparts to have hormone disruption as well as an increased risk of developing fibroids, asthma, infertility, and cancer.
Creating safe hair care products targeted towards helping women, in particular, BLACK WOMEN is the only way to help lessen the increase of health complications from hair care products within the Black community.
Duplé Naturals will provide the changes needed within the haircare community and Black haircare community by providing quality products WITHOUT:
- Sulfates
- Parabens
- Mineral oil
- Polyethylene Glycols (PEG)
- Formaldehyde
- Triclosan
- Dimethicone
- Retinyl Palmitate
- Propanol and Isopropyl Alcohol,
- Fragrances
- Artificial Colors

Duplé Naturals
Duplé Naturals is a hypoallergenic hair care line targeted towards a diverse group of people with various hair types. The purpose of this line is to provide users with high-quality all-natural, paraben-free, sulfate-free, and chemical-free products.
My main goal in establishing Duplé Naturals is to help the natural hair community by providing hypoallergenic and high-quality products at affordable prices. In doing so, I aspire to help to close the gap of damaging hair care products specifically targeted towards the Black community.
I also aspire Duplé Naturals to be an inclusive brand. Meaning, I plan to provide hypoallergenic hair care products for various textures, lengths, and densities of hair. The reason for developing a hypoallergenic hair care line is because I have hypersensitive skin. I have tried most of the shampoos and conditioners that are targeted towards people with natural hair. Unfortunately, all these products either irritated my skin or caused it to become inflamed. Because of this, I decided to create Duplé Naturals.
Expense Budget
I am looking to raise at least $30,000 to fund my business venture.
Chemist
To properly formulate my haircare products, I will need to hire a chemist. For my initial collection of hair care products, I need help in formulating a shampoo, conditioner, styling cream, curling cream, and a hair gel. The chemist I found that is willing and able to formulate these products is well established and has been featured in many well-noted magazines.
Advertising/PR
I will need to hire a publicist for a few months to help get the word out on the business launch.
I will also need to launch various marketing campaigns and perhaps provide various PR packages to potential influencers.
Support Team
- Assistant and Interns (Payroll, Workman's Compensation, Disability Insurance)
- Bookkeeper (QuickBooks specialist for tracking finances)
Branding
I will need funding for my LLC license registration and trademark services. I also need funding for packaging materials and logo creation.
I will also need to pay for website hosting fees and for potential custom designs for the website.
Miscellaneous Fees
If I exceed my funding goal, I will allocate any additional funds towards the following:
- Accountant Fees
- Lawyer Fees
- Philanthropic Organizations
- Duplé Naturals’ Skincare collection, which is targeted towards people with eczema and psoriasis

WHAT IS MY BACKGROUND?
I began to have an interest in formulating products from a young age. I grew up in the Caribbean, where because of high inflation prices, most hair care products were extremely expensive. Because of this, I began formulating my own hair care products. By creating Duplé Naturals, I aspire to provide safe, hypoallergenic, and high-quality products for a diverse range of people at affordable prices.
I graduated from Florida International University with a BA in Communications & Business Administration and I currently work as a Project Manager for a Trading Company.
