Decolonizing Wellness

Given the tremendous pressures oppressed and marginalized groups face, it is vital we engage in self-care and have access to equitable mental health services. This access must meet their needs in that, there are providers that look like them and share some of the same lived experiences. Wellness, like many other things, continues to be less accessible for BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ folx. Furthermore, many providers rely on outdated research and approaches are that too often include a Eurocentric approach. It is time to Decolonize Wellness!

Decolonizing Wellness is a therapy/coaching/consulting business specifically focusing on the BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ communities. At Decolonizing Wellness, it is our commitment that we provide a space accessible for minoritized and oppressed communities to receive the needed care and support to help them not just survive but thrive.

Decolonizing Wellness is in the beginning phases of development. The funding raised will support services to start immediately.  We will provide 4-6 sessions to 100 BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ folx.  Services will be provided via telehealth to eliminate barriers and increase accessibility.  Decolonizing Wellness is BIPOC and womxn owned. Receiving this funding would mean so much as it will positively impact the lives of others. Thank you in advance for your support!

Phase 1: Initial funding will allow for immediate provision of services to 100 individuals.  We will leverage virtual platforms to increase accessibility and decrease barriers to treatment.

Phase 2: Establish a network of BIPOC and LGTBQIA+ clinicians to create a referral-based network for folx with the highest amount of need aligned with the service model.

Phase 3: Raising and matching funds with community economic grants and other grant funding.

Phase 4: Create a pathway for more service providers across an array of intersectional identities.  Provide located-based services and/or tech-based solutions in regional hubs to reduce access gaps persisting from a digital divide.
