Project Description

Continental Flavor is a black owned/woman owned business that was founded in Boston, MA. My name is Shabria Jerome. I am a 28-year old mother from Boston. I am also the founder and owner of Continental Flavor. I specialize in spice blend seasonings; to be exact, I use spice blends from every continent. Sazon from the Caribbean, Louisiana Creole out of North America, and Italian blends from Europe are just some of the seasonings I specialize in. All my spice blends are 100% natural, pure, organic, and hand crafted (with love of course)! My goal for Continental Flavor is to bring people together and break down the negative stereotypes towards other cultures. What better way to do that than through food? I want to help people discover the world by trying different flavors in their kitchens. I also want to make it easier for people to explore other options outside of their "norm".

As a child, I moved around a lot from city to city, to state to state. Although that was difficult, I had the pleasure of immersing and indulging in different cultures throughout this melting pot country we call America. From the Mexican/Central American influence on the west coast, to the southern Louisiana Creole dishes, all the way to the east coast, I have experienced everything from Caribbean, Latin, Asian, Eastern Europeans, and African dishes.

Furthermore, I want my company to be heavily involved in the community. By donating 500-dollar gift cards to minorities and lower income families. I believe everyone should have the right to good quality foods as well as healthy foods. Unfortunately, families who tend to live in or below the poverty line, usually don't have the options of eating the healthiest. So at Continental Flavor, this will be our way of helping those in need who don't have access to expensive, good quality, and healthier options.  As my business grows, I have plans to expand in giving back and uplifting others in our communities by giving back to the same people who inspired me to create Continental Flavor.

Why do I need help?

So far, I have funded my entire business alone coming completely out of my own personal savings. Having been denied business loans as well as grants, I could really use the help to continue building my dream and my community. The recent data shows that there are about 14.2% of black people in the U.S. population. Black businesses are only about 2.2% of America's 5.7 million employer business. I want to be among 2.2%. I want to help inspire other black and brown girls from the same background and issues to be a part of that 2.2% as well, not to only be a part of it, but also to raise that percentage times!

Your donations with crowd funding will go to help:

  • Pay utilities for the kitchen

  • Buy supplies needed for inventory

  • Help donate gift cards to minority/low-income people in need of food

  • Shipping and handling

  • Uplifting and supporting a black owned business done by a single woman

Thank You!

I really appreciate you all for just taking the time to stop by and explore my page. Thank you for the donations, generosity, and for supporting a black woman's dream. It really means a lot.
