Our Why?

So often women feel that they don’t deserve the luxury of travel for fun unless they have a reason to celebrate such as a birthday, bachelorette, family trip, personal development retreat, etc…. They are trained at a very young age that our taking care of a household and building our career is the priority.

So much that exploring a new destination and experiencing its food, art, nightlife, becomes more of a daydream and less of a necessity. 

Often when women are given the choice to spend money on a household item such as a new washer & dryer or taking kids to cheer camp, it gets the priority over taking a trip with their friends, to simply enjoy life and recharge their batteries. (Yes, many go to self-development or yoga retreats but that is still a form of work.)

As women get older they have become obsessed with getting raises, raising their families, staying fit and have forgotten what it’s like to live life in the moment. There is a race to retirement that is never guaranteed and they get so stuck on a routine of dinner, gym, and Netflix! 

Womxn forget the feeling of what it’s like to dance like no one is watching, try a new strange food or meet a new group of strangers that could become lifelong friends. 

(Not to mention, only 44% of women take their allocated time off and typically begin the conversation with an apology like “I’m sorry but It’s a unique situation and I had to book a flight.”)

The curiosity and freedom they felt when they were younger with less responsibility, to explore the world and take that gap year have become a distant thought. 

Besides many of the above challenges, in recent women are faced with so many more obstacles like Covid restrictions, political climates, budgets, the time it takes to research a new destination, and most importantly safety.

Not to mention, when they finally do decide to make the commitment to travel they get stuck on the large travel corporate sites such as Expedia, Travelocity, etc…which only guides them towards big travel chains and away from the small business. They no longer see the local female-owned businesses who own small boutique hotels, mom & pop shops, local private chefs, tour operators and more.

What We Know!

The Project! 

This year we are excited to launch our hosted trips where Jazmin our founder or someone from our team will guide a group of 8 - 12 women through a getaway like never before. Each group will be a group of strangers who have never met but all have the one of the following in common.

• They have always wanted to travel but were always afraid to do it solo and looking for a like minded group.
• Have always looked at group travel trips but wanted to feel safe in a women only environment.
• Loved the idea of a retreat style trip but didn't want to do yoga for 7 days and eat vegan.
• Didn’t feel like they would fit in with other groups due to not looking like an influencer or because they are unique.
• Wanted to adventure differently and combine luxury, street chic, backpacker and adventure travel all in one! 
• Excited to sit around a table with wine and have unfiltered conversations without judgment. 

The all-inclusive getaways will range from 4 - 7 days with a mixture of culinary adventures such as taco & tequila tours, shopping at local farmer's markets, and exploring the local underground food scene. They will have the opportunity to stay in funky boutique hotels and even a hip hostel. Our team will curate one-off experiences such as a gourmet picnic with local cheesemakers or an afternoon cruise on a boat or a rooftop concert. We will research each city thoroughly and chat with the locals to make sure each experience is one of a kind and that we are supporting the locally owned women-owned businesses. 

How Crowdfunding Will Be Allocated! 

This has been a COVID journey for me with officially launching in 2021 due to losing my job with a well known events tech non-profit for women. My career has led me through many adventures of travel, events, hospitality, but I always knew I wanted more and to help women connect and see the world. As I have bootstrapped to this point, I am searching for resources to expand and scale. (Currently in between the actively testing and beta stage in business due to a lack of resources for further growth. )

FeMAVEN seeks funding for support in the following areas: 

Travel Costs: Part of our process is to visit each destination before we send a group out. A portion of this will go towards airline tickets, hotels, vendor research, safety checks, etc….This will allow us to create a completely curated itinerary for the groups. On the actual group-led trip, I will have an assistant guide with me to ensure connection and coordination runs smoothly. We will also need to upgrade our insurance to cover group travel and international locations. Our first group destinations with be; Dallas, Charleston, Mexico City, and Portugal. 

Marketing: First and foremost, a new branded photoshoot & video shoot will be scheduled to feature diverse women of all colors, shapes, and sizes. It has been a huge struggle to find stock images that represent real women. Part of our mission is to make women feel loved and important! That means we want to shower them with gifts and little surprises on each trip. We will be creating branded merch that we will gift them that will have uplifting messages and be purchased from women owned businesses. We will also use the funding towards printed materials, Facebook Ads, and targeted campaigns.

Operations: We would like to upgrade our travel software and no longer run off Google platforms. We will move our operations to WeTravel.com and continue to operate on Flodesk, Trello, Squarespace, etc.. A portion will also go towards pay to our team.
