1 in 4 women in the US suffer from hair loss. That is 40 million women, and 10 million of those women are under the age of 40. Hair loss in women can diminish self image and quality of life, the psychological damage caused by hair loss and loss of confidence can be just as devastating as any serious disease, and in fact, can take an emotional toll that directly affects physical health. Currently there is only one medication approved by the FDA for women in the treatment of alopecia, and while there are many drugs that work for some women, some of the time - they are rarely prescribed with no new formulations or trials in sight. Women are left without options, and enormous societal pressures to fit a specific image; usually driving them to avoidance in social situations, poorer performance at work and an overall decline in health due to emotional and physical abandonment. 

My goal with Novus Hair Studio is to empower women to be confident in their own image - however they choose to express themselves, and not be hindered by societal beauty standards and lack of options when it comes to general health, self love and care. As someone who herself has struggled with self image and mental health/well-being, I have noticed a gap in not only solutions but availability of reliable, skilled technicians in hair amplification methods; especially outside of major metropolitan areas. I have recently struggled again with my image as a beauty professional and young female entrepreneur - my own mental health struggles (including ADHD, PTSD, Anxiety and Depression) diminishing my ability to care for myself, my business and personal life. The closest expert extensionist available to me is just under 70 miles from me. When I am stressed, overwhelmed and juggling life the best I can - 70 miles is just too far. So I let my self image go, along with my confidence and emotional well-being. It has taken a huge toll on me. But I realized that I am not alone in this struggle, and I have a unique ability to be the solution to the problem. 

With funding to my business and cause, I can not only serve well over 25% of my local population and clientele; but also build a brighter future for myself and those around me. This is a lucrative business that I can share with many other salon professionals to cater to a whole Sub-Urban population of women who are undervalued and underserved, desperate for a solution they don't know they have. Passion + Purpose = Prosperity. I have found my passion in my trade, and my purpose to not only help myself and other professionals like me - but to assist in a much bigger systemic issue that hides behind the curtain of injustice and inequality of women everywhere. I believe that I can truly find prosperity in my own life by giving confidence back to the women I know, and those I have yet to meet - one head at a time.
