Project Description

  • Our mission is to increase teen parent support and preparedness. Reduce the maternal mortality rate among BIPOC families by providing doula support at no cost to teen parents.
  • Our goal is to provide a foundational opportunity to new and teen parents. We will be addressing knowledge deficits, disparities regarding the increasing maternal mortality rate amongst the BIPOC community, and the lack of support offered during childbirth and postpartum recovery.
  • While there is a decline in teen pregnancy in Georgia, there is still a high percentage of BIPOC teen parents and they are facing food insecurities and low health coverage.
  • We offer services that include no-cost doula support, childbirth education, lactation support, infant care such as CPR, and sleep training. As well as, financial literacy and other personal development training. Our BabyBuddy Bank offers necessary baby and postpartum items to doula recipients such as diapering supplies, clothes, food, and car seats.
  • The plans for the funding is to provide doula support at no cost as well as funding for a space for community engagement such as lunch and learns, donations, and educational courses.
  • Our team is small but mighty with several years of doula and community engagement experience. Our team includes Krystal Reese, President. Kaci Griffin, VP. Delivia Atkins, Secretary. Quishun Reese, Treasurer. Kaela Robinson, Administrative Asst.
  • From the CocoBean Family, we want to thank you with an air hug! Your support is giving new parents the foundation to create and cultivate healthy family dynamics.

The Campaign FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What do we do?
    • CocoBean Parenting Support Organization Inc offers a number of free and low-cost services to teen families including doula support, educational tools, baby items, etc.
  • Who do you serve?
    • Our target community is low-income, BIPOC teens who are expecting a child. We are offering doula services to other groups on a sliding scale fee.
  • Why do we do what we do?
    • The group is founded by 3 black doulas and mothers. We understand all the struggles of parenthood. We imagined that this struggle is compounded by being a teenager.  We are fighting to address the most marginalized group. In Georgia, black birthing people are 4 times more likely to die related to childbirth than other groups. Teen parents are at a higher disadvantage due to the educational gap. We are looking to bridge that gap!
