Climb ABA: Supporting Developmental Growth

At Climb Behavioral Solutions, we believe that every child has a unique path to reach their highest potential. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for our clients by providing support for them and their family, using research-based Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) techniques to build positive outcomes. Our dedicated team provides ABA therapy to promote skill development and behavior change for children diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. We take the time to get to know each client as an individual and collaborate with other professionals to ensure our clients are receiving a cohesive, interdisciplinary approach to therapy.

Developmental delays associated with ASD and developmental disabilities often create barriers that impact a child’s ability to engage in activities typical for their age group, and can create barriers to accessing and participating in typical community experiences. By providing the needed equipment in a safe therapeutic environment, we can create goals that are specific to each child and support them in acquiring skills and behaviors to increase their ability to access age-appropriate activities and community experiences. This is important because increased participation in community experiences can improve the quality of life for clients and their families. Further, clients who develop the skills necessary to participate in age-appropriate activities have more opportunity for inclusive experiences in the community.

Center based ABA therapy is unique in that it allows a child to receive therapy and access early intervention away from the home. By creating a safe and enriching environment, each child diagnosed with ASD can be supported in reaching goals that help them move toward developmental milestones, along with their typically developing peers. Our clinic environment allows clients to access recommended ABA therapy, achieving goals that target delays in areas such as: functional communication, activities of daily living, gross motor development, language acquisition, and social skills. Each child has unique needs that require 1:1 direct service funded by an insurance provider, however there are limitations.

The funding provided by insurance only meets basic needs and doesn’t account for space, individualized materials, safe and appropriate adaptive equipment, or equipment appropriate for typically developing peers such as play equipment. The funding we are seeking will allow Climb to purchase a large scale indoor playground structure for the clinic. Access to this equipment in a therapeutic setting can allow Climb to make adaptive accommodations that promotes inclusion and skill development for our clients.

Climb Behavioral Solutions has shown tremendous growth, increasing the number of children served from 2 to 17 in one year. The need for more services grows each year as the number of kids able to get diagnosed with ASD and other developmental delays increases. The potential to grow is infinite provided we have the resources available to provide therapy that values positive engagement in an enriched environment. With more research and education supporting access to early intervention services, the need will similarly increase in the near future.
