Project Description

slide 9

UndocuProfessionals Network is a community platform for and by the undocumented communities that create an environment of mentorship with sustainability that allows themselves and the next generations to choose through career coaching, workshops, networking events, mentorship programs, conferences, and more.

Slide 3

The problem is that, all too often, undocumented individuals such as professionals, students, workers do not receive the same services and opportunities because of their immigration status. Not to mention that undocumented professionals, students, and workers often do not see themselves as leaders or by others. However, undocumented professionals, students, and workers that happen to be undocumented ARE leaders and do belong.

Approx 98,000 undocumented students graduate from U.S. high schools every year; that estimate is far higher than has been cited for nearly two decades. The largest population of undocumented immigrants is in California and Texas. In California alone, an estimated 197,900 are DACA recipients. 55% DACA recipients are employed and 36% are not in the labor force.

Even though undocumented professionals, students, and workers attain degrees, have the skills and knowledge, we are not provided opportunities because of our immigration status or lack of social security numbers. Therefore, we cannot use our degrees, talents, and skills; instead, undocumented students, professionals, workers are not supported, paid less, or get into fields unrelated to their career choices.

Representation, safe spaces, diversity, empowering, and adopting nondiscriminatory policies toward undocumented professionals, students, and workers are essential.

Undocumented immigrants are in many fields such as health, business, STEM, entrepreneurship, education, and many more that should be provided with job opportunities and have the possibility of choosing a career path. Therefore, we strive to work with schools, businesses, organizations, and individuals to adopt career pathways, create nondiscriminatory policies in workspaces and provide job opportunities.

Hi! Hola! My name is Sharet Garcia, the founder of UndocuProfessionals Network.

With over 15 years of combined experience in education and business-first working in management and today as an entrepreneur and counselor -my commitment to providing services to the immigrant population is established to believe that all, regardless of immigration status, should be supported to reach their full potential.

All this time, I was waiting for someone to create a space like UndocuProfessionals Network, not realizing that I too could make a highly needed space and give back to my communities. I'm using all my expertise to provide resources and give back to my communities that are long overdue. My work experience, education and personal experiences have allowed me to understand our communities' needs better.

UndocuProfessionals has been featured in HuffPost, Unsugarcoated Media, Radio Kingston, Gallatin Confluence, and Madison. In addition, I have been working with schools and organizations and have over 20 partners that support and use the services of the UndocuProfessionals network. #UndocuProfessionalsnetwork is a movement and largest community of undocumented professionals that want to bring awareness and at the same time need opportunities that allows themselves and for the next generation to have the possibility of choosing career opportunities

Our impact at UndocuProfessionals is to create a new level of opportunities; we can break down some barriers that so many face when entering the workforce through our community.
