Project Description

  • Bud & Bloom is a botanical apiary company. It blends beekeeping and herbalism to make self-care and women's health products. I'm constantly motivated by the local community here in the PNW. Working with local farmers to buy dry and fresh herbs for distillation and herbal blends is such an honor. I am always inspired walking through the forests here, foraging for ingredients and learning about the many seasonal pollinators that allow my bees to flourish.
  • My hope is to combine my local products with the birth services I can offer as a doula to help women throughout pregnancy and into parenthood, as well as selling at local farmers markets, coffee shops, and grocery stores. My products are designed to bring families closer to nature and to learn what local and native plants can provide. I have big dreams for this company, eventually purchasing land, expanding my hives, growing much of my own herbs, and offering several birthing services (birth & postpartum doula, lactation consulting, postpartum nutrition, pregnancy & postpartum massage). I currently offer many tea varieties, skin care products, and hydrosols.
  • As the summer continues, I will be adding seasonal flavor varieties, honey-based simple syrups, infused honey straws, and honey jars. Gaining this funding would allow me to  start wholesaling my products through local boutiques and coffee shops in Whatcom County.
  • My production cost will  grow once I go from a bi-weekly farmers market and online sales into an additional wholesale platform.  This money opens the opportunity to hire part-time production assistance ($225/month), purchase packaging and ingredients (average $1500/month), and help with commissary kitchen costs ($300/month). It would mean so much to my company to get this extra money for our growth in this early stage that I'm in now. Thank you for your consideration!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Where will this money go?

I am trying to expand my market from a bi-weekly farmers market and online sales to local wholesale. As the honey flow starts, I will be launching our infused honey straws, honey jars, and honey-based botanical syrup products. This money is going to help us grow through this process, pay for packaging, a part-time production employee, & cover our commissary kitchen costs.
