Bringing Oriental Medicine to Valdosta, GA

Omega Healing House is an acupuncture and herbal medicine clinic set to open in Valdosta, Georgia. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life with alternative healing modalities using acupuncture, cupping, herbal medicine, and counseling. Additionally our mission is to offer alternative healthcare to the underserved population in South Georgia through community acupuncture. 

The Problem

Lack of Affordable and Quality Care

Healthcare cost is the primary reason that prevents Americans from accessing quality health care. Without health insurance many Americans cannot afford services. Even with the changes in policies, health insurance is still out of reach for some. 

Decline in Practitioner-to-Patient Interactions

Healthcare has advanced greatly in science and technology. However, it has declined when it comes to practitioner and patient interactions. More than half of the patients I see come to me because they feel unheard and misunderstood by their previous healthcare practitioners.

Burdened by Chronic Disorders and Stress

Heart disease, Cancer and Diabetes are the leading causes of death in America. Approximately 47% of the U.S population are living with at least one chronic disorder, which are complicated by Covid-19. Costly premiums and added stressors are a huge burden on the individual and society.

Offering Affordable and Holistic Care

Oriental Medicine focuses on bringing the body back into balance. A body in balance is a healthy body. We diagnose using a whole body concept to aid in the treatment of common disorders to include physical pain, mental and emotional disorders, allergies, cold, flu, and digestive disorders. Acupuncture treatments and herbal medicines are often cheaper and have less side effects than Western medical care. This leads to quality and holistic care that is more affordable.

The most important step in healing chronic and acute ailments from a holistic concept is listening to a patient's story; how they developed their current symptoms. Our goal is to build rapport with each patient to create a harmonious interaction that leads to lasting patient-to-practitioner relationships. This allows each patient to be open to share their stories and allows for optimal care.

We are offering all natural healthcare that works to bring the body back into balance and manage chronic disease. Research proves acupuncture and Chinese herbs compliments Western medical treatment for chronic diseases such as diabetes, cancer and HIV. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the need for acupuncturist will grow at least 11% by 2028. With the current health crisis, acupuncturists will be useful to keep western medical clinics and hospitals available to those who urgently need them.

My goal is to help you achieve optimum health and wellness. Having evolved over thousands of years, acupuncture is one of the oldest continually practiced medical modalities in the world. Acupuncture is used to aid in the treatment of disease, relieve pain, balance mood, enhance athletic performance, increase fertility, and improve overall health and wellness.

Modern research has shown that acupuncture is a safe, effective, chemical-free way to promote the body's remarkable self-healing abilities. An acupuncture treatment involves the insertion and manipulation of flexible, hair-thin needles at specific points on the body. Most patients find the sensations produced by acupuncture treatment to be deeply relaxing both mentally and physically.

About the Founder

 Shakera Mutakhabir

 Oriental & Herbal Medicine Practitioner

Shakera is an Air Force veteran from Newark, NJ. She served in the Air Force for eleven years before deciding to make a major career change. She is currently an Intern at Dragon Rises College of Oriental Medicine in Gainesville Florida; graduating in December 2021. Upon graduation she will have conducted over 350 patient treatments, diagnosing and treating patients with various disorders; gaining vital experience.

Healing chronic and intractable ailments takes a certain level of sensitivity, which she has acquired in order to treat stubborn conditions with gentle methods. Shakera understands that everyone holds the key to their own  healing but at times the body needs a little help. Her goal is to get patients to take control of their healing by helping patients to understand how each organ is apart of a larger system.

Shakera believes everyone has a purpose. If everyone did their small part the world could be better tomorrow. Her small part is bringing all of her patients back into a healthy and balanced state. 

We are raising money with IFUNDWOMEN to open a clinic with three treatment rooms and a complimentary meditation room for patients. Our intention is to have less of a financial burden to enable our clinic to offer free community acupuncture to the underserved population in South Georgia.
