Our Mission

Blac Cotton is an apparel brand that is dedicated to waking and elevating the consciousness of African people as well as expressing pride for our culture. We plan to achieve this in the way of slogans and symbols that resonate with the origins of where we come from and our physical attributes all while staying on trend. More than an apparel brand, we also strive to change the narrative of what we as well as others think about the roles we're capable of fulfilling in the world.

The Problem

In order to change systemic racism long term we need to not only change how other races see African people and their contributions to the world, but the way Africans see themselves as well by breaking the chains of mental slavery. We will plant seeds of knowledge through imagery and dialogue that will start us on a path of enlightenment & unity.

Our Solution

Clothing has long been a way to express yourself, show your personality and which culture you identify with. African people have always been colorful and expressive through dress and imagery. In keeping this tradition we will create imagery and slogans that speak to the knowledge, culture and forgotten history of the African people in such a way that it flows with current trends. This strategy will capture the attention of the masses, instill pride in self and garner respect from others. 

We Need You

Your contributions will be used for products and services needed to develop the garments and maintain the business, such as t-shirts in bulk, storage, hiring a marketing team to create brand awareness/engagement as well as efficient technology equipment that will allow us to maintain our day-to-day operations.

About The Founders

My partner and I are both African American women and between us we hold a B.F.A in Fashion Design with 10 + years in the field and a B.A in Social Work with 11+ years in the field advocating for social change. This makes us uniquely qualified to not only design and create original garments but also connect and understand the needs of other people on a deeper level.

As women who have black girls who look up to us in a world where racial divide is alive and freedom is based upon your level of wealth or lack thereof. We believe that demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit and strong work ethic will propel the younger generation to hold the same principles and build generational wealth.
