Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings (BADT) is a Black-owned, Queer-run doula training organization whose mission is to be socially conscious, culturally appropriate, diverse, and action-oriented. We train our students to serve their clients using the best practices available while preparing them to be active partners in the movement to change birth and reproductive health culture locally, nationally and globally. BADT was founded by Sabia Wade in 2019 in response to a noticed lack of representation of BIPOC, Queer, and Trans communities in doula education. Our vision is to provide accessible, conscious, culturally appropriate, diverse,  and action-oriented courses with the framework of care, choice, and justice, towards a better, more equal world. 

In 3 years, what started out as a bullet point outline of the topics, a vision of accessibility, of acceptance and inclusion, has grown to a successful company recently reporting $1 million in revenue and 7,750 enrollments from all over the world (and counting).

To date, BADT has expanded to Canada and plans to further expand into other countries, with France being the front runner. Our reach will increase each expansion. Additionally, we are in talks with various healthcare organizations to build partnerships and streamline enrollments, and we have received approval to offer Continuing Education Units from the Midwifery Education Association Council (MEAC) for a number of our courses, expanding our relevance  to midwifery track students.

At Birthing Advocacy Doula Trainings, we take things seriously... but we still have fun. We believe in giving people the space to show up as their whole selves. That means acknowledging the layers of humanity that we all bring with us to every single experience. We continuously consciously expand our course offerings to encompass more aspects of the human experience. We want BADT trained full-spectrum professionals to be equipped to enter sustainably, heart-first, into the work that they do.

At this point in BADT's growth, we are seeking funding and we would like to be able to do to the following: expand our team & increase the wages and benefits for all who work in support of BADT, further support the accessibility of our classes through ASL, captioning, and increased scholarships, and increase marketing so that we can continue to grow and expand our reach.
