Project Description
My name is Judith Pluviose. I am the Founder/CEO of Aging Beautified ™, LLC. We value authenticity, boldness, creativity, growth, inner peace, self-confidence, self-love, and simplicity. Our products are intended to provide the skin with all the necessary nutrients it needs without the pressure that is often associated with anti-ageing or ageless beauty brands.
The focus on perfection and perpetual youthfulness has not allowed consumers to slow down and enjoy life. Consumers are bombarded with thousands of advertisements daily, reminding them they are incomplete, unpolished works of art.
The pressure to look perfect is negatively affecting our mental health. It is because of that we believe it is time to adopt a more positive and simple way of taking care and nourishing our skin. We want to encourage all our potential customers to permit themselves to be happy with who they are and what they have practice self-love while finding creative and fun ways to take care of their physical needs.
Our targets are Black and Women of Color in their thirties and beyond. We want to encourage and inspire mature Black women to accept and love themselves as they are even when society is telling us we need to do more to earn acceptance.
Aging Beautified is a natural skincare line that will be catering to Black Women and Women of Color who suffer from Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra, a skincare condition that affects mostly the Black and Brown communities. This skin condition is not addressed by the mainstream beauty industry. There is no cure for this condition; however, I want to formulate skincare products that may assist in slowing down the growth of these lesions. These lesions are unaesthetic and often lead to low self-confidence and body shaming.
As we are a new small artisan skincare brand, I am the sole owner and formulator for Aging Beautified. I do hope to be able to hire or collaborate with other Black skincare formulators in the near future.
My products are currently in the testing phase. I have depleted my own saving during these trying times to turn my detached car garage into a skincare lab. We will use funds to secure additional lab equipment. Furthermore, the funds would enable us to pay for laboratory testing of our new products before launching our first skincare product in the fall. We will also use the fund to secure the desired business space to sell our products to the public, and purchase the necessary permits, conduct focus groups for our products, surveys as well as marketing.

What inspired you to start your own skincare line?
I am an attorney and when I passed the New York Bar, I was beyond happy. Unfortunately, over the years I've come to realize I don't belong in the legal field. As a Black woman with a Caribbean accent, I find myself explaining to my white colleagues why they should stop bullying me just because I speak with an accent. The constant bullying caused me to become depressed. Almost two years ago, I taught myself how to paint in order to cope with my daily stress. I quickly realized I had a natural artistry gift. This self-realization also led me to formulate skincare products for the skin lesions that keep growing on my face and neck. These lesions look like moles in appearance, but there are medically known as Dermatosis Papulosa Nigra.
